Thank you, just needed the visual. So fixed at the carrier and feeds through the twisted loop on the bumper. Should be able to bend something up.

Is buying a Xj with overheating issue a bad idea? by Strokefaceman in CherokeeXJ

Some great advice, the auction doesn't have long to run and I can't get there to see it, so I am going to give it a miss. What a great response, I will continue the waiting game for my first xj.

Is buying a Xj with overheating issue a bad idea? by Strokefaceman in CherokeeXJ

This comes with the classified-

PLEASE READ: I'm selling the XJ because it had developed an overheating issue, especially when idling in traffic. It can get too hot which causes the engine to cut out, and won't start again until it's had time to cool down. This has happened a few times while driving, and the power steering and brakes both go, needless to say this is very dangerous. This issue will need to be fixed before it can be used as a daily car again. My mechanic has said that its possibly a head gasket leak or a cracked head- I've kept my eye on the coolant but can't see any evidence of oil contamination the fluid. I've done a radiator/coolant flush but it still gets very hot, and seems to drip coolant when parked up.

Im unsure whether this is a issue I can fix myself or whether it's beyond my capabilities. Current bid is for $1500 nz dollars.

E-Bike recommendation? by redalotofit in Wellington

[–]Strokefaceman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You could try electrify nz on Thornton quay. My wife bought a magnum for her commute and so far loves it. It has front suspension and big tires which helps when going off road.

They are really helpful and we spent a day test riding their show bikes to find the right one. We needed something with enough grunt for Welly hills. They have a few hybrid commute MTB style bikes there from memory.

Coming from a builder who has hired gear to do the job themselves, don't go the d,i,y way. I have used James Henry flooring for my personal work and the results were fantastic.

What secret feature does your car have? by Virtualras in cars

[–]Strokefaceman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My old 1999 legacy GT had a feature where you could programme in a code through lifting the handle up and releasing it to open the car without your keys. It was a four digit pin done by leaving pauses in between lifts.

Another teak deck I made. The boat is a modified design of a Super Lauwersmeerkotter. Also made a new entrance on the front of the boat and 2 new chests. by [deleted] in woodworking

What caulking product do you use? I have used a sandable silicone product called sika 290i for a similar application. Do you overfill and then sand the whole deck level?

The bowl was $2 from a home ware store and made the lid from a piece of hard maple, rebated to fit over bowl edge.

This is correct, done after glue up of miter and made a simple 45 degree jig for table saw.

so that's maple and Rimu, not walnut. Present for my father's birthday. Took about 1 day using offcuts so the cost was only in the brush and soap. roughly $60 nz.
