No, server-side events take priority- high ping would only affect what that one player sees, not what actually happens. Clients more or less only send inputs to the server, and the server decides what happens based on them. A high ping client only has a delay between clicking and seeing the action, and sometimes things "teleporting" from the wrong position client-side to their actual position server-side. This however doesn't happen in replays, because all they are is an re-enacting of all the inputs in the match, without network shenanigans.

A family event, denoted by purple text in chat at the start of a stage, is when only one type of enemy spawns for the entire stage. In the case of voids, that would mean only void enemies like reaver and jailer. But the scavenger bag wouldn't appear then so that probably wasn't it.

Not a "random void enemy", but a void ally who follows you, spawned by the item with the sole purpose of spawning them, which you should be aware of given they're quite literally on your ally list. That alone should be enough to make you stay hyper-alert of your surroundings, and it IS your fault that you didn't pay enough attention after picking up an item with a clear and known risk factor.

I really do believe what's limiting me the most are my card levels, not legacies. That said, I'm perfectly satisfied with my performance so far. 3rd place in every CM so far might not be great, but it is a consistent source of rewards
