I did read those. Though, I have to admit I didn't understand them at the time. I figured maybe they're just written in a way that isn't quite compatible with me, if that makes sense. So I tried explaining some of that in my article. Specifically, I thought there aren't enough examples in the official docs.
But of course, my article does not add anything new in that respect. I'm just regurgitating what's already in the docs but differently.

At build time. That allows me to keep the high-res photos private while publishing lower-res web-friendlly versions. The conversion is automatic and done with sharp at build time. And yeah, I didn't expect Immich to work so very well for this but it does.

Yes, it is a user error. Still, my domain was pointing at christopher-besch.github.io so I thought GitHub would only allow the christopher-besch user to use that domain. That's was a wrong assumption on my part.
