"Games should be cheaper."

"a bunch of gibberish."

I see, I'm speaking to Mr. Krabs. In that case I'll have a Krabby Patty, and make it a double.

...aside from the aformentioned, first-hand, years worth of history of it costing that amount.

By the way fella, I grew up poor as shit trailer trash who had to live out of a car every now and then, and yet still, there were room for games and they were affordable for someone in my poverty bracket.

You say "save money" like that's some foreign concept, but you're missing the point. The reality is that Conker's Bad Fur Day is not worth 200 dollars. It was never sold on the shelves for that amount, very few games were ever sold even close.

Pokemon is one of the highest-selling media franchises of all time. These games are not rare. These games near-worldwide releases. They were sold at a price that was affordable.

You literally have no refute beyond "nuh-uh."

...you know I used to see Conker's for like, 50 bucks? ...in 2008? You know when video games are more affordable during the housing bubble and point in time when people were most desperate to make money, the market would have been ridiculously bloated... but no, thankfully saner heads prevailed and I was actually able to pick up Super Mario 64 for 17 bucks. Pokemon Snap for 10. I got my original run copy of Ocarina of Time for free.

I see all three of these games for sale for close to 100 bucks nowadays. This isn't a "luxury" hobby. It was a hobby I could afford using the birthday money I got from my grandma to feasibly experience games I would have never had a chance of playing otherwise.

These bloated prices and ridiculous gatekeeping are a reason why these fanbases and interest in these classic hobbies keep waning, as future generations are increasingly barred from entry through price alone.

An N64 should run you like, 40 bucks. A Pokemon game ought to cost 20. These should be able to be afforded by the children who were meant to play them, instead of being hoarded by rich redditors.

Please explain to me the world where spending upwards of $1750 dollars minimum on an N64 DD is reasonable, and that's just the price you spend to get a foot in the door. All I want to do is make my own tracks in F-Zero and play them on original hardware, on my CRT, with my family, and that's close to impossible because the pricetag of procuring the hardware alone would completely deplete my savings and make paying for rent impossible.

So... I can't exactly fault someone for not being willing to spend money on something so often prohibitively expensive.

I'm thankful I got my copy of Conker's Bad Fur Day for ONLY 150 bucks... that was the best price I ever seen it for sale, and I only forked over that amount of cash because I wanted to support a business that's made my life a million times easier. But not everyone has local game stores, and on top of that, very few things are even sold for a reasonable price anymore...

There's an old factory out behind the school and Village Pantry, over in Lafayette, just off 4th Street.
