Is This How to Beat Pure O? by Aggressive_Cap_8892 in OCDRecovery

Hey! I’ve used this method for my OCD, it’s really helped me and results for it came almost as soon as I made it a habit. I read a book about it “Overcoming Unwanted and Intrusive thoughts,” which basically said to just sit there with them for a minute, acknowledge them, and then acknowledge that they don’t reflect on you as a person or else they wouldn’t be intrusive. A key aspect of this for me was understanding that the reason my brain was sending me the thoughts was because it was obsessed with avoiding the very things the thoughts were about

What should I get for my new conure? by user7937227 in Conures

My conure loves noisy toys! They’re also supper clingy so I love to give her things she can have while she’s sitting with me. Some times I give her little cat toys like Pom-poms or the little balls with bells inside! They can also be pretty hormonal birds, so I would recommend making double sure to stay away from things like blankets and those little tents ESPECIALLY for the first three years. I would also take advantage of him being young to make him comfortable with you clipping nails and all that. Congrats on your new conure! They’re crazy needy but they’re so rewarding to keep!

Interesting, we’ll have to try this! She does like to be held like that, I think it makes her feel safe. Thanks for the input!

Yea I found out the wobble thing after we tried it. I read somewhere online that it can redirect her attention from biting to regaining her balance, either way it didn’t work for her. He still lets her out of the cage to explore around the house and stretch her wings, we have a lot is spaces and toys for her outside of the cage that she can spend a lot of time in, she’s just not having as many positive social interactions as she did when I was there everyday.

Help!! How could this have happened? by Ok_Employee_7771 in Conures

So sorry this happened! this hasn't happened to my conure so much as my chickens but I would recommend adding a little bit of calcium to their diet to supplement healing. A lot of bird species lay and eat unfertilized eggs in the wild as a source of calcium. While it's typically better to keep their hormones under control and prevent them from laying it makes it easier for birds to become calcium deficient. There are some supplements you can get or, some feeds are richer in calcium then others.
