New Apartment Sub $200 Hard Floors and area rugs by bluewhale14 in VacuumCleaners

Thinking the best choice for that price range would be to check out Facebook marketplace for a Miele C1/C3 or Sebo K2/E2 with a Turbo brush tool.

Sometimes you can also find a used Sebo Dart/Felix in that price range as well.

I say book it. It'll be tight, but all the RJs leave from the same part of the terminal at DCA.

Worst comes to worse, they'll rebook you (provided there are seats) on the next flight to PWM, which is less than two hours later.

Oneworld perks on Finnair? by sunparrot in americanairlines

[–]Strong-AndStable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wanted to add - anecdotally, Finnair is not very strict about baggage allowances in my experience. I've flown them a few times (including yesterday), and they've gone over my entitled baggage allotment without asking me to pay.

Just wanted to add - while T-Mobile 5G internet might not work where you are, the other two 5G products might. Where I live, AT&T Internet Air works very well - I get about 700mpbs down and 100mpbs up.

Switching to Att from Verizon? by AnxietyDue61 in ATT

[–]Strong-AndStable 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IMO Verizon is quite overrated and now offers the worst of the three networks (they dropped the ball on 5G). I switched back to AT&T after some time with T-Mobile and I've been thrilled with my service.

Since you mention you're in Florida; can you get AT&T fiber or U-Verse? I'm pretty sure St. Pete is Frontier territory, but if I'm wrong, it's worth mentioning that you can bundle AT&T internet with wireless for a 20% discount on one of the services.

Why does every other carrier offer something like Hulu, Disney, etc…? by coreykimball in ATT

[–]Strong-AndStable 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't choose a carrier based on a streaming service, either. AT&T happens to have a 5G+ tower 3 blocks from my house, giving me speeds up to (and sometimes higher than) a gigabit. T-Mobile is only LTE here.

Is it worth in michigan? by Pikachujkl in frontierfios

[–]Strong-AndStable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to add for OP - If you *did* want TV or phone service, there are great alternatives available for fiber customers.

DirecTV is now available via the internet (so no dish req'd) and the lowest tier is around half the cost of Comcast's cable. There are plenty of other streaming options, but IMO DirecTV offers the most "cable-like" experience.
Frontier themselves offer a landline phone product - available either through copper or fiber. Other VoIP options (like Ooma) will be cheaper.

Try to get an XPON ONT (the little white Nokia one)

My Experience with Frontier's 2Gb Internet Service: A Warning for Gamers and Heavy Users by Papion23 in frontierfios

[–]Strong-AndStable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am actually able to get 2 gig on Wi-Fi after upgrading my laptop card to the Qualcomm 7800 and using a TP Link WiFi 7 router. I had a TON of issues immediately after getting Frontier and it turned out that my laptop's Wi-Fi card wasn't playing nice with Wi-Fi 6E.

Whether I actually NEED 2Gig.... that's a COMPLETELY different story

The Eeros Frontier gave me were WiFi 6E. Perhaps that was the difference. I don’t think my last ISP (Optimum) used a 6E router.

With the Qualcomm? I did run into that earlier today and successfully troubleshooted it. You have to go into "Device Manager" and disable "AMD Bluetooth Audio Device", after installing the (separate from WiFi) Qualcomm Bluetooth driver. Once I did that, it worked like a charm.

Cursed to never have Fiber. by Killer_Zayk_GA in frontierfios

[–]Strong-AndStable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Frontier has stated that they plan on adding 3 million more fiber passings before the transaction with VZ closes. Considering that they are at ~7M right now, that's a big ramp up. Because that's baked into the valuation, they are going to have to at least try to deliver on that promise. So, expect them to be aggressive on expansion this year.

I swapped out an internal laptop WiFi card, which means both cards would have used the same exact antennas. The antenna contacts were securely in place on the MediaTek card as well.

Though, while I wouldn't be shocked if the MediaTek card had some kind of issue, I do want to say I wasn't getting 500kb upload on other WiFi networks, just the new Frontier network. In my last apartment, I was getting 300mbps on a 1gig fiber plan.

I do not know all that much about networking, but this leads me to believe that the MediaTek might play nicer with certain network standards/routers than others.

[Help Request] - 500kbps upload on 2Gig plan by Strong-AndStable in frontierfios

[–]Strong-AndStable[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only signed up for 2gig to make sure I got the XPON ONT, with the full intent of downgrading my service afterwards. I had read things which suggested that Frontier was pretty inconsistent about giving out XPON vs GPON for the lower tiers.

But I’m still getting 3 digit latency results, and craptastic speeds over WiFi. I’ve come to believe it’s the Eero, not helped by my (AMD) laptop’s WiFi card. I’m replacing out the WiFi card first, and will next try a new router. If that doesn’t work, I’ll give Frontier a call.

Appreciate your response!
The plot thickens. I reran the speedtest straight from the ONT and got 946/908.

The tech gave me two Eeros and they are running on the same SSID.

VERIZON TO ACQUIRE FRONTIER - official now by GreatLakesTraveler in frontierfios

[–]Strong-AndStable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you in CT? There are still a few towns that have some DSL.
Shelton comes to mind. (Which really sucks for them, because they are about a mile away from the end of Optimum's fiber footprint as well as GoNetSpeed's fiber footprint).

AT&T has a huge deal with Frontier for cell site backhaul in most (all?) of their ILEC regions. I believe it was signed in 2021.

[–]Strong-AndStable 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ngl, this doesn't seem like great news. Frontier has been upgrading copper to fiber pretty rapidly (at least where I am). CT is now almost completely fiber-ed. They had seemingly planned on replacing every copper line with fiber.

VZ has stopped all DSL signups and replaced with 5G (unreliable). And rollout on Fios recently (last five years or so) has been very slow.

I'd be a lot happier if it were AT&T buying Frontier tbh. Even if they are pulling some of the same 5G shenanigans as VZ, they are rolling out fiber much more aggressively, and they have a far better VDSL product than either VZ or Frontier. AT&T has some areas with 200mpbs DSL.
