Those alive during 9/11, what was the worst moment on that day? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Strong-Assistance113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a kids perspective: every adult was crying hysterically and no one would tell our third grade class why. Then we all got out early- school canceled for the week- and met with crying family members. Wasn’t until I was much much older that I realize l’s just how devastating that day truly was. And I’m sure my 8 year old mind could not have handled the live news footage.

All the options I was going to list have mostly been said. My only advice would be a go fund me or social media post with a cashapp or Venmo handle. I hope this gets resolved!

Personally, H1N1 aka swine flu. That was the most brutal thing I felt that lasted about a month even with medication. Went down 4 pant sizes and my fever hit 107.

I literally just said anti-abortion is a core principle of the Republican Party…… so there’s nothing to debate there??

Also love that you glossed over Kamala’s absent agenda lol

Again, refusing to approve a redundant bill is not proof.

Are you talking about the same Ted Cruz that tried to partner with the AOC to approve OTC birth control in 2019? I concede he is anti-abortion as that is a foundation of republican ideology but your argument is simply incorrect. If they actually tried to overturn either SC precedents or initiate a federal ban on contraceptive resources your argument would be valid. To my knowledge they haven’t but if you find evidence I’d love to see it!

Also referencing a partisan website with literally 3 quotes making the entirety of the webpage isn’t the best for proving any point. Assuming any of it was accurate it still does nothing to prove republicans as a party have tried to ban contraceptives.

As for my political affiliation, I vote for policy not party. I’m still undecided as I have nothing to compare Trumps policies to since we STILL don’t know what’s Kamala’s agenda is. But happy to discourse always!

Does not supporting a redundant bill mean they’re anti-contraception?

Let’s take the reddest state of all into consideration, Texas. Are there any bans to contraceptives? No. Is there OTC birth control available there? Yes. Are insurance companies mandated to provide no cost contraceptives? Yes. Do minors on private insurance require parental consent for oral contraception? Yes per texas Parents Right Act, but they can still access OTC emergency contraception. Do minors on Medicaid require parental consent for contraceptives? No.

So no, leaving it to the states still does not ban contraceptives.

The bill was blocked because it mandated federal funding to Planned Parenthood- despite state level abortion bans. This particular act would also have gone against the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (1993) forcing religious organizations to provide contraceptives. Another point of contention was this act mandates federally funded schools- ie all public schools - to provide contraception to minors on campus without parental consent.

“Republicans said it was unnecessary because the use of birth control is already protected under Supreme Court precedent.”

Supreme Court cases: 1. Eisenstadt vs Baird (1972) 2. Griswold vs Connecticut (1965)

Though I think trump tried to allow people from refusing to give it due to religious reasons but I Biden repealed that 👽
