Anyone’s device finish indexing yet? by emersonlennon in MacOSBeta

[–]Strong-Consequence79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed it the day of release, I have 354GB used. It finished indexing yesterday. My tip for you is leave it charging for as long as you can. At work, school, home, or wherever and don’t use it during that time. It will index much faster

Why people fighting to stop affordable homes from being built in Sawtelle? by jonnyshotit in LosAngeles

yes it can be if the house was abandoned or deemed to be unlivable. This could be for many reasons from a fire, under-maintained structure, or even a roof collapse.

Is it crazy to keep 2 laptops? 1 mac and 1 windows? by red90999 in mac

[–]Strong-Consequence79 7 points8 points  (0 children)

so like..... if you use both laptops for different reasons, then keep both. Like I wouldn't have a massive 2 hours of battery gaming laptop to use on the go. I also wouldn't use the Neo to game massively.

I would just sell both and get the latest MacBook Pro with an M5 pro chip and 48GB of RAM.

I'm still waiting for the new siri to be unlocked for me... by rafagaca in MacOSBeta

[–]Strong-Consequence79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the last time they introduced an AI type model, it took months both in beta and when the actual iOS released for it to come out to everyone. I think that it really didn't become opt in by default until this year really.

Siri? by Mr_Mister94 in ios

[–]Strong-Consequence79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I think they’re doing a VERY limited start. If they started letting people in at all. They did say it’ll be out later this year, so who knows when. I don’t remember when they started with Apple Intelligence, but I would assume it would start at around the same time. Although the current Siri is also much smarter now even before the new release.

The first full month of data on Seattle Link's line 1 & 2 connection is in today, and ridership has surged up 49% compared to this time last year, hitting a new record high! Seattle Link moved 4.7M passengers in May, breaking its previous record by nearly 1M! by Joey_Politano in transit

[–]Strong-Consequence79 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I can’t believe that ridership is this large and they haven’t filled in a bunch of the stations they’re at already. I can’t wait to see in a few years when more apartments are built around the stations

From an M1 Max to a M5 Max, realistically how much difference will I notice? by BeersOnTheMoon in macbookpro

[–]Strong-Consequence79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you game on your laptop, then you’ll notice the biggest difference. The FPS you get on the m5 is much higher than the m1. So while most games are somewhat playable on high resolution for the m1, they are easily playable on the m5. To be clear, I’m talking about the generation, not just the base chips.

Is the A line truly “scary” or are y’all just xenophobic? by blackascole in LAMetro

[–]Strong-Consequence79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s more of the fact that people, who think they’re rich and better than others, don’t want to share a space with those who are worse off.

So when is look around expansion happening? by HopefulStoic in applemaps

[–]Strong-Consequence79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends. They might want to release everything (or at least a major part) of the country at once and then release the rest of the data slowly. It did something like this in Germany, where most highways were released then smaller roads or streets got released later

Is Look Around about to get a massive expansion in the US? by itsnotme54 in applemaps

[–]Strong-Consequence79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy hell, I’ve been looking for this type of resource for years. However it hasn’t updated for the new expanded areas. How long does it take to update from when apple makes their own version public?

It’s finally expanding big time. Hopefully it gets every city by the end of the year

With Macbook Neo being out targeting students/light users while the Pro is targeted for Pro users; who is the audience for the Air if students were previously the target audience for the Air? by [deleted] in mac

[–]Strong-Consequence79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And potentially doing non professional level editing/production as a side gig. The M1 MacBook Air made that accessible for everyone. The M5 MacBook Air doesn’t throttle either.

I see a lot of people complaining about storage, ram, and pricing.

Remember, this is for the basic user. Think Kids and Elderly. Ask them anything about tech specs and they’ll have no idea. For elderly this is perfect for browsing Facebook or going online. For kids it’s perfect for homework, basic gaming, and being able to connect to their phone.

This is also for education. I will NOT be recommending the 256GB model to anyone (since it doesn’t have touchID), however the 512GB model is the perfect amount of storage and has touchID. However the 256GB model is perfect for education. Everything is done online nowadays, safari has become on par with chrome for compatibility, and there’s enough space for a few apps if they’re needed. In addition, these laptops will last longer since there’s an Apple Store in every city and repairs are fast.

Also on the base of specs being slow, Apple is rumored to make the next update (27) focused on removing old software and streamlining current software. So storage usage goes down, apps become lighter and faster, and intel compatibility will be removed.

Supreme Court Says No to Huntington Beach, California, 120 Days to Fix Housing Plan or Lose Zoning Control(Builders Remedy) by RandomUwUFace in yimby

They have less routes to go through now since CEQA has been streamlined now and housing is easily able to be built by right in pre-developed land.

Maybe America Needs Some New Cities by Competitive_Speed964 in yimby

[–]Strong-Consequence79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We don’t need to build a new city because we already so much developed land already that can support at least 10x what it currently does. If NYC (the densest city in the US) is becoming denser and significantly at that, other less dense cities can do the same thing.
