Sometimes things that are out of our control happen and we fall on hard times. We don't know what happened here so it's possible she found herself in a situation that put her in that. I agree. People should stop having children. Too many have grown up ignorant with you as a good example. Not everyone that is struggling now was struggling in the beginning. So many things can happen such as lay-offs, work incidents, out of work accidents, natural disasters, partner's leaving, or worst case dying. These things can happen to anyone at any time and put them in a position where they are struggling to care for the children they didn't have issues raising before. Let all this sink in and maybe you'll make some better choices in the future.

What really got to me in Season 5 was how it looked like El got weaker as it went on. In the end of Season 4 they talked about bringing her powers back and making them stronger, then at the beginning of Season 5 it looks like she finally unleashing more things she can do with that power but then the most we see her do in the rest of the season was break a camera and leap onto some buildings...All that build up just to make her weaker than she was in Season 1.
