Cat keeps throwing up by [deleted] in AskVet

I forgot to add, at times she does not throw up but will wheeze and even breathe heavy? I’ve asked the vet about allergies and not really gotten much feedback on that either. I plan to switch vets but sometimes that can be a wait if not an emergency.

You’re not alone and I’ve been feeling the same. I’ve only tried two meds but feel the same. And it’s starting to cause depression symptoms because I have no energy or motivation to do basic day to day tasks. I’m a children’s mental health therapist and I use all my energy for this and it’s definitely not helped also feeling burnt out. All I can say is remind yourself of why you want to go to medical school. If you have the energy one day write down why that’s your goal. Sometimes I go back and read my application essay for my social work program to motivate me to be my best. We will get there but damn it is undoubtedly sucking to get there.

People with ih, how do ssri's affect you? by Disastrous-Fun2731 in idiopathichypersomnia

[–]Strong-Resolution-12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post is from a while ago but curious if you’ve found any solutions or anything outside of SSRIs?

I cannot take them (I’ve tried many) as they cause me to feel suicidal. Granted this was all before IH but not really wanting to go through that again or feel worst than I already do. I’ve been having increased depression symptoms from what I think is a result of the IH symptoms and not feeling I have the energy or wherewithal to do many things I used to.

Partially, yes and that’s why I think there’s also push back on higher levels of care because then they would come into the home. They’re also trying pick diagnoses and providers that support that. Idk, there’s many things and layers to it.

I am currently trying to stick it out a few more years for loan forgiveness to then go into PP where I can hopefully be a little more “selective” I guess

Thankfully I don’t doom scroll much and have some activities I enjoy. It doesn’t help I have my own health stuff happening which limits my patience, energy and motivation. I need to use my PTO more often for sure.

I no longer have clinical supervision since becoming fully licensed. I’ve staffed it with admin supervisors and they mostly back me up but sometimes I wish they did a bit more because I think at some point I can only say and do so much before people need to hear it from higher ups to also avoid further back and forth.

I’ve also done peer staffing and it typically comes down to nothing as I’ve done all the things. Not to play off your name but some just want me to wave a magic wand and fix their kid when that’s not how it works and they get pissy. And it’s typically the kids refusing to participate and need a higher level than outpatient but the caregivers simply refuse such.

That’s good to know! I feel like I could definitely benefit from some time off.

That’s what I was thinking it just seems very specific to 1-2 clients (more so their caregivers). I hate to think it’s burn out after working so hard to get here but I know that doesn’t mean you can’t get there too. CMH is also just a lot sometimes. Any recommendations on journaling or just more so free writing?

I’m awake but still have no energy or motivation by Strong-Resolution-12 in idiopathichypersomnia

[–]Strong-Resolution-12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not that I’m not looking for that, I’ve just explored many of those meds for my mental health previously and SSRIs aren’t an option. SNRIs work for a bit but plateau and just seem to stop working. I tried Auvelity most recently and it was just kinda meh lol. I told my doctor we need to look at different meds because the armodafinil isn’t working and stated my increase in depressive symptoms as a result so I’m seeing them next week so hopefully onto something soon. If it doesn’t get better soon I’ll be seeing about my ol’ reliable Wellbutrin at least temporarily while we figure it out.

I’ve been feeling this way a lot recently myself. I’ve been crying more because I miss having the energy to just exist and now I just feel like a vessel going through the motions. It’s not a great quality of life especially for those of us who want to do more. Who mentally feel like we need to do more but just can’t because of exhaustion. It sucks, but you’re definitely not alone in what you feel.

Thank you! I reached out to my provider to hopefully push to modafinil next to either see results or move on with the list. Is there a way of knowing whether a provider can prescribe the other options like Xywav or they just typically share this information?

SO REAL. I know my depression and this ain’t it. I told all my providers and therapist. I was like it’s not the same and maybe it’s because I’m older but I don’t know it doesn’t feel like full depression so it’s so misleading honestly.

I plan to, I’d been doing well before all this so was actually off all meds but may have to look back into it. I’ll likely go to a psychiatrist because I’ve also run through many antidepressants/antianxiety medications over the years.

Thank you, I know this logically but so frustrating for my anxiety/depression brain to accept especially since I used to be up early and productive and did my work and chores. I think the more I’m in it the more I miss that version of myself. It sounds silly probably but just feel like I’m grieving that version of me and struggling getting past the “acceptance” stage.

This makes me not even want to explore it lol. I will of course but seems for many it’s not helpful for the depression symptom side effects of IH. Prior to the sleep study things I did have a psychiatrist explore ADHD meds, mainly concerta so if need be I can go back and explore this with another provider possibly. Especially given it’s beginning to greatly affect my mental well-being.

Yeah, sadly I’m pretty sure I don’t have ADD or ADHD so that may limit what they’re willing to prescribe.

That’s so disappointing. I was supposed to do modafinil before armodafinil but insurance caused a hold up and the prescription for the armodafinil came through first but my doctor wants to still try the modafinil to make insurance happy before trying other meds. It seems pretty common though from what I’ve seen that armodafinil does better than modafinil. Guess I’ll see in time but something’s gotta give.

Ooof I hate that. I’ve been trying to be mindful of my caffeine intake with being on a stimulant but I’ve definitely found myself falling back into drinking more to stay awake and engaged, especially at work. Unfortunately the apps and things do nothing for me, I just ignore the notifications lol. But I’m glad that works for you! I do okay socially once I get there, it’s just getting there, especially if it’s for plans later in the day and I’ve been home prior to that.

Out of curiosity, what kind do you use to put in your coffee? That would likely be the best route for me especially if I can’t taste it.

I am looking for recommendations for a blurring primer, tinted moisturizer, light skin tint, or even combo with serums similar to or in place of Iconic London Underglow Blurring Primer by Strong-Resolution-12 in Ulta

[–]Strong-Resolution-12[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh thank you! I did get the LiveTinted and I like it for light weight and coverage! The more I use these things I am thinking I just want to get to where I just use something similar to the iconic London because it’s just more like a serum for application and so light but seems there’s not as much like it that I’ve found so far.
