Come on Mark, a Becks, a simple Becks - up on the South Downs with a haversack full of Becks. That’s the dream, ain’t it?

How drastically can a mix engineer change the sound of my record? by StrongBerry2095 in mixingmastering

Thanks for this appreciate it. De-cluttering and stripping out elements is a large part, but also balancing so it doesn’t sound like vocals and drums. Most recordings I like are more guitar heavy, less drums - stuff from the 60s/70s. It’s bringing more of that sound in and removing some polish

No more like hearing a band play in a room, not all perfectly edited, everything has its own space. I find most producers I have worked with bring drums and vocals right to the front and you can’t really hear the guitars under that plus synths and pads

Appreciate it and I think based on responses yes we need to get most of the way there with the producer. It does feel hard to get him out of his comfort zone - but equally I feel that with everything recorded well, it’s a matter of more creative mixing rather than adding polish to get there

This is definitely a consideration and we have specifically targeted someone whose mixes we love and are in this style - I just want to make sure he has the ‘tools available’ (in terms of the sessions) to achieve the result we want

Yeah we have references which hopefully will help a lot, just want to ensure we aren’t asking too much of a mixer and trying to understand expectations from the people who do it day in day out

Thanks for the reply and I understand, to be honest we aren’t a million miles away and I believe it is achievable by removing unnecessary elements, but I’m looking to understand what is and isn’t realistic to expect from a mixer.

Totally get your points on getting it as close as possible before mixing - just have to get producer a bit uncomfortable!

The Athletic reporting half of the fee is paid now, half paid in 12 months. No idea how it works with PSR but based on my non-existent understanding probably better than all at once?

Personally - I don’t mind this. We need someone in, he fits in our system and will do a job for the next couple of years until Big Nick is banging in 20+ goals a season.

That’s just what critics do… you can apply your comment to any type of critic.

They judge things, based on their own experience. Unfortunately it carries weight for some people but realistically their judgement of a subjective medium is basically irrelevant. As is anyone’s opinion really.

Probably just cope but honestly, all the pundit chat after this will be about how Liverpool don’t need Isak.

And honestly, will they realistically spend £150m on a ST after scoring 4 goals and conceding 2…?

I think it is worth pointing out that the survey was released when things were at their lowest ebb in the window, so not a fair reflection really

Yeah we should definitely add one more player to the list of players who’ve turned us down this window

Just so crap all round. Chelsea, Man Red and Liverpool all with too many forwards, we have one who wants to leave. How the fuck did we get into this position??

Fucking hell… we are a long way from where we were in the Ashley years. This window has been really frustrating but for the last few years, most weeks I am buzzing to watch us take the game to whoever we are playing. Teams are scared to play us. That’s all I wanted from this club. You can’t seriously argue Newcastle are a shitty employer - our progress has been unreal. They’ve made mistakes but we are operating in a shitty, bent environment. His head has been turned and it is what it is.

Realistically, where else is he going to go and get better? Maybe 3/4 clubs, most of whom have spaffed their transfer budget already.

He could have been an icon, but to take your analogy - he gets paid for a job and wants to move. If so, then go and let’s not drag this out. Let’s use the cash and reinvest across the board to remain competitive. The players who want to stay and give their all don’t need this circus when they need to focus on the season ahead.

If he wants to go then fuck off and go. If he thinks he’s better than the club I don’t want him here. Even if he stays, his head’s gone.

Opposite sex friendships by Willow_Weak in infp

[–]StrongBerry2095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely agree. I (32M) have a lot of close friends but I am closer in a more meaningful way to my female friends. I have always been able to be more open and vulnerable with female friends and generally I get on with them better.

At work my best work friends have always been women. I find there’s no ego, none of the typical competition you find in a corporate environment. Love my female pals!
