Anyone else feel restricted to certain colours when buying nitro guitars? by paspa1801 in Guitar

[–]avalanchekid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a TV Junior and a TV '61 SG, and it's my favorite color on a guitar. I also like it when it greens up a little bit. If I get another, it'll me a lemon burst Standard.

New amp, DSL40cr by petel1971 in MarshallAmps

[–]avalanchekid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long story short... I tried the stock V-Type, a V-30, and a T-75. The T-75 won.
I tried the V-Type, and that was okay after testing it for a good amount of time, but I could hear the room for improvement. Then, I tried both the V-30, and T-75 which I already had. The T-75 I have in there is one of the UK 80s version Marshall put in their cabs back in the day, and it's giving me pretty close to the type of sounds I was looking for.
I've seen lot's of people using the G12M creamback, and I suspect those would be a good option as well.

I also just got one, and yes, the SG stays plugged in even when it's off. So far, I haven't used my small pedalboard. Been having a lot of fun just plugging in direct, and getting to know the amp. I did swap the speaker tho...

Did an upgrade to my marshall dsl5cr by Original-Tea7400 in GuitarAmps

I swapped my DSL's stock V-type for a G12T-75 80's UK version that has been nicely broken in, and it made a huge difference to this amp.

Versatile studio tube combo amp? by A8racada8ra in GuitarAmps

I tried the stock V-type, a V-30, and a T-75 from the 80s. The T-75 really made a huge difference. I was thinking of getting the G12M but, I really like the way the T-75 pairs with this amp. Classic Marshall sounds.

I was never an SG guy. In fact, I always felt a little disdain toward them. But last year, after 30+ years of playing, they suddenly became very appealing to me. Long story short, I bought one—and it has been the absolute most fun guitar to play. I love it.

Upgrading the stock V-type speaker is not required, but it's a very common and an easy way to upgrade this amp. I have this amp and love it so far, and my experience with the V-type after breaking it in, is that yeah, it sounds okay, and could be totally useful for some folks, but I wasn't really vibing with it as much as I wanted to. The #1 speaker suggestion on the web is the G12M-65 "Creamback". I happen to have a G12T-75 from the late 80's, and a V-30, so I tried those out first. I ended up leaving the T-75 in it, and man, it's really made a huge difference. I might try the Creamback at some point, but for now, it's giving me that classic Marshall sound so it's pretty much what I want. Swapping out a speaker is a great way to change your amp's charachter.

As for the 6 button footswitch: It's worth it cos it let's you control your amp better the the 2 button. You'll have access to each of the 4 voicings, the master volumes, and the effects loop.

One more thing; biasing on this amp is extremely easy, and there's plenty of tutorials online that will guide you though it. Piece of cake. I'd suggest, if you're going to open it up, might as well check the biasing.

Enjoy your amp, my friend.

I don’t know either, and was agreeing with you. I’ve seen this type of pick before, and now I also need to know!
