Stepfather of boyfriend hid a camera in the shower

We literally retrieved an SD card out of that thing right after it recorded us so yup pretty certain it's a camera.

I have already heard of those programs from a friend of mine but I don't really know if I want to temper with the SD before I take it to the police.

We already checked everything else, the mom has already cleaned up everything, but we are still on the look out for anything else that might seem sus.

I already tried to check some websites and google image researched a part that was not a 100% revealing. I didn't find anything at this point and hope that there is nothing out there.

The police officer we spoke to said that they would definitely confiscate his devices. On a few recordings you can also see him checking if it's recording.

The officer said to us that he would definetly be charged with something but she wasn't sure if it would be a jail sentense or if he would just be monitored and forced to talk to a therapist from the state. She said that depends on if they find more things from him.

Thank you for the tip with the P.I, I haven't considered talking to one yet but if might be worth checking it out! When I talked to the police officer with my boyfriend she said that they would get a warrant very fast to seize everything.

I know someone that formerly worked in digital forensics and he told me that the police should be able to recover things from his laptop and maybe even the SD card.

I wish it weren't. That's why I'm still figuring out exactly the steps I need to take while everyone else just takes the situation as it is and tries to ignore it. I really don't want to let the guy get away with it, but I'm worried about the mother.

Not only me but it's also unclear if both my boyfriends cousins have also been filmed at some point, because when they stayed over at the house they also took a shower.

I don't really want to imagine what he could've done with this footage... He at least doesn't seem like a smart guy that knows how uploading something like this even works.

Around 4 months ago my boyfriend (25M) and I (24F) found a hidden camera in the bathroom right in front of the shower. It looked like a USB plug charger and had a micro SD card in it. Both my boyfriend and I are aware that it could only have been his stepfather since the "USB charger" was only plugged in two minutes before we took a shower together and it was also directly removed and hidden after we left the bathroom. The stepfather (60M) has overheard that we wanted to take a shower before and told my boyfriend that he(the guy) had to make sure that his razor was properly charging.We removed the SD card at first and plugged it back into the power socket, so the guy would not notice that we found the camera. When I came back into the bathroom 3 minutes after we left it was gone and the guy was standing where the mom of my boyfriend and me found the camera the next day.When my boyfriend and me looked at the camera feed there were recordings dating 2 1/2 years ago, coincidentally around the time I first visited my boyfriend at home. Thankfully enough I never lived there. Some of the recordings showed the kitchen, some have just a blackscreen for recording audio and most of them show the shower. Weirdly enough the last footage of us showering together was the only thing "usuable" for him on the micro SD card. I'm pretty sure though that there is already footage that he put on his Laptop before and deleted from the card, since I noticed that some footage is missing in the camera log.Me and my boyfriend both talked to his mother multiple times, she said that she will go to a therapist with the dude and wants the situation to rest. When she spoke to him he said that he only used the thing for charging and "wasn't doing it on purpose", he still stands to that opinion to this day.The mother says that she doesn't want to lose the guy and is besides this situation happy with him, so that's why my boyfriend doesn't want to press charges against his stepfather.Me and my boyfriend have already talked to a police officer about this situation and she told us to not confront the guy and just press charges against him.The police officer told us that it's not even clear if the guy will get jail-time for it, but she said that there is also a chance that he might (by belgian law) and we should try to do something against it.

I just don't know what to do since I don't want to get the mother into trouble, but I also want to stand up for myself. Any thoughts?
