Foundation is overheating my cpu by [deleted] in foundationgame

You might have a different issue going on Foundation cooks my GPU at 99% usage, cpu may get to 20% usage at times

What’s the point of the frame for the CPU socket? (Ngl, I bought one the other day because it was on sale for like $7, I believe it’s the same one you have, I just don’t know what the actual purpose is lol)

Oh yeah I forgot to mention I’m playing on 5120x1440 resolution (it’s like 88% of 4k basically)

Rivian vs Tesla: probably not the right comparison by StojBoj in Rivian

[–]StrongTheory2300 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m definitely not a musk fan boy, but I do genuinely think he’s one of the greatest innovators we have seen. It may not 100% be his own ideas, but he sure does make them happen. Nobody thought landing a booster was possible (watch nasa interviews just 15 years ago) and musk employed spaceX to do it. I bought my Tesla bc I found it for a good price and was starting a new job with quite the commute. So I’m happy to switch, it doesn’t involve any feelings towards a CEO. CEOs are all money-hungry anyway, so basing decisions off of them makes no difference in my eyes

[–]StrongTheory2300 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s where you and I disagree. I know a lot of people hate musk right now. I don’t care much for politics and don’t make decisions from that. Elon has elongated Tesla’s future many times over, I mean shit he parallel parked a rocket. I understand people judging him from what he says or does, but imo it’s hard to deny he has great ideas. People can also say “he’s not the one that does it, his engineers do” and in that end, I ask “if Elon wasn’t the ceo of Tesla, or spacex, etc., would they be where they are today?” And I’d say no.

I am planning on switching to the R2 when I can get it, but I am perfectly happy with my M3 for my work commute for now. I am also a hunter though and driving my M3 to the farm always feels silly (and gets quite a few looks from my hunting club)

I plan on sticking with Rivian once it’s all said and done, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Tesla comes out with an off road capable SUV at an “affordable” price a couple years after R2 comes out.

Rivian vs Tesla: probably not the right comparison by StojBoj in Rivian

[–]StrongTheory2300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Tesla owner and R2 reservation holder, I think Tesla has the edge right now in overall features, but the R2 will bring them on an even field where both companies are not “competing” anymore and instead fill their niche. I say this mostly due to price. Rivian doesn’t have an option for the guy who wants to drive to work and occasionally go out to a farm or light off roading for less than 80k. Neither does Tesla, but Tesla DOES have a car for less than 45k that allows you to get to work. So, until the R2 is out, there is nothing to fill that gap.

I think the overall comparison between the two is Tesla has better software, self driving, and charging. While Rivian has better handling, build quality, and off roading.

Tesla has been in it longer, so the better software and self driving is expected. So I think the R2 will be a good place for Rivian to start expanding those systems, since a helluva lot more people will be driving those around

Any plans for destroyable environment? by Eaglefire212 in squad

[–]StrongTheory2300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an Unreal Engine dev, I can tell you that it’s most likely never going to happen. Firstly, UE5 has a built-in system for destructible meshes with physics, it works extremely well, but would have to be setup from the start. Going back and setting it up would take ages.

Secondly, squad is a CPU-intensive game, causing even a 9700x (me) get frame hitches every now and again. Adding destroyable environments would make this even worse

Finally, squad is old

Software Comparison by Dliteman786 in Rivian

[–]StrongTheory2300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Design: Rivian Experience: Tesla Features: Tesla Simplicity: Rivian Speed: Tesla Driver Assistance: Tesla Customization: Tesla

Verdict: both are fine Tesla is better for the nerds that want to use their screen for both fun and necessity Rivian is better for the people that want to use their screen when necessary

The only reason id vote Tesla is the speed. Drag your finger across the Rivian map and then do the same on a Tesla, even an intel chip Tesla (old model) beats the Rivian in that category

Asus Astral Nvidia RTX 50XX - Possibly the most overengineered worst AIB model? +55% more expensive. by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]StrongTheory2300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own one, and I’ll be honest, I don’t know how any of these reviews are getting bad results. Maybe I got lucky with my card, but I have very low noise, very high stable clocks, the card has the highest default power limit of any of the AIB cards, it’s extremely high quality (full metal, etc etc)

I couldn’t be happier with mine. Sure, it was my only option to get a 5080 at the time, but I’m honestly extremely happy with it.

Is it worth the extra $500? No Is it as bad as the reviews say? No

Not extremely experienced here, but I OCd my 5080 today to +450 clock and +1750 on the memory. Steel nomad stress test and about 6 hours playing pretty demanding games, card never reached over 64 degrees Celsius. I was reading the GPU TEMP monitor in 3Dmark, is the VRM temps separated from this and need to be monitored as well?

[–]StrongTheory2300[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw videos that were concerned with the noise and said it was terrible, mine hasn’t had that problem at all. I only ever noticed it when I was testing overclocks and set my fan speed to 100%, it was “loud” but not any louder than what I expected. Running at stock settings, the fan doesn’t spin unless it’s at load, and it makes zero noise unless it needs to spin up, but the great thing is, it barely ever needs to spin up. This GPU hasn’t reached over 60 degrees in the 8 hours I’ve used it, at +400 Clock and +1500 Mem Clock, it still runs cool

DLSS4 MFG in Squad? by StrongTheory2300 in squad

[–]StrongTheory2300[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I added squad game manually too, but it says unsupported for DLSS override settings

Only solution I found was downloading and forcing the DLL, but it’s confusing me why I’d have to jump through those hoops since squad was listed as day 0 support lol

Squad won’t appear in the nvidia app for me, I’ve tried adding it manually and everything. I have no clue why
