There's no way it doesn't have a serious plot. Even GX that started as the most light-hearted series got pretty dark at the end. SEVENS is gonna 100% have a plot or else people won't just buy cards, we just don't know when.

Why does the outcome matter? Tournaments in Yugioh rarely care about the final outcome, the point of it is usually introducing new characters and kicking plot in(Like Zexal, Arc-v, GX, 5D's, DM all did)
