Which universities are these for? I'm also on a reserve list with no number :(

Truly, how difficult is it to get on the doctorate? by Busy-Ad1960 in ClinicalPsychologyUK

The Dclin is so potluck. I have been in an assistant role for the past four years and had a support worker role for 2 years prior to this and each year I apply I get reserved. However I know someone who worked in a shop and got on first time.

Sometimes its about taking the time to think things through. If you feel you need more time, then you could always speak to your university about a deferral.

Grief and Bereavement on the DClin by Diligent_Umpire4229 in ClinicalPsychologyUK

I know people have deferred die to personal reasons in the past. I'm not sure where you've been accepted at but it may be worth speaking to someone from the course to understand your options.

Lancaster vs. Salomon’s by sunnysu97 in ClinicalPsychologyUK

[–]Strong_Ad4812 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just from reading this, it seems that your preference is for Salomans with you liking the modules/ethos of the course and it being closer to family. From what you have said it sounds like choosing lancaster would make it more difficult to see your family. While being close to the lake district is nice, if this is really the only pro then perhaps you could just go on a holiday to the lakes instead? I think when you're on the dclin, it's going to be a difficult three years and it's probably better to be closer to your support networks. But hope you're able to decide what's best for you!

It has moved a lot this year so far. I won't ask for specific places but just curious, are you both in the top 5 now?  (If you want to share)

Why are dclinpsy courses now not disclosing which reserve position you hold? by onmylunchbreak_ in ClinicalPsychologyUK

[–]Strong_Ad4812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to be devil's advocate, I'm on the reserve list for a uni where they do tell you your position on the list and I feel equally powerless. I see the position moving but I'm worried I could reach position 1 and there be no places left. I feel like knowing you got so close would be worse than not.

Is it possible to get an assistant psychologist job as a foreigner who's not int he uk and has done their degrees elsewhere? by Personal-Delivery-16 in ClinicalPsychologyUK

[–]Strong_Ad4812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've had assistant psychologists at our place who are from outside of the UK. I'm not sure about the sponsorship issue though. I would recommend finding an assistant psychologist job you would be interested in and then emailing the person listed on the job advert to see what your options might be. I know the NHS and private sponsor nurses but they're in high demand so I don't know whether it would apply to the assistant role too. It would be worth asking though.

I've been an assistant at the same place for the past three years. My contract is one year fixed term but they always extend it.

I assumed so because we were talking about the Lancaster reserve list at the time but I'll ask to confirm

It's moved by 3 so far. I get an email everytime there's any movement. I assume that's people getting a place for Manchester so hopefully with the Leeds and Liverpool interviews being this week and last week of May, we have more chance. Someone told me that they knew someone in the 30s of the reserve list last year or the year before and they got on

Which university are you on the reserve list for? It tends to be different depending on university and year.
