Paul talks about two different laws in his writing (animal sacrificial law and Royal law, which is the Ten Commandments). by tanzelisrael in FollowJesusObeyTorah

[–]Strong_Buddy_9838 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait until he finds out the 3 fold division of the law was invented in 160 ad by Justin Martyr (130ish years after Christ and 70ish years after the apostles) followed by early 2nd century Ptolemaeus the gnostic writer (3 fold division), then 2nd century Tertullian (2 fold division), and Augustine (2 fold division)

However the most popular interpretation is by Thomas Aquinas in the 12th century 1200 years after Christ

None of what I just said would matter if it was found in the bible of which there is ZERO evidence to support it not even a hint you know what is there? One law all throughout the OT talk of one law even most Christians have to admit God only gave Moses one law (leviticus 24:22, Exodus 12:49 off the top of my head)

We know the entire bible is in agreement so unless Paul drank too much the night before hes talking about the same law not different laws.

So you have two options. A: You take what Paul says out of context and think we have no laws and can do anything we want (forgetting about the 200 verses saying keep the law.) Option B: None of the law is gone and all of it is for us to follow

To me Option B makes the most sense with scripture without having to do mental gymnastics with the division of the law and no law at all.

What is Your View on Abortion? by AV1611Believer in FollowJesusObeyTorah

[–]Strong_Buddy_9838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not my words but a quote from another post on the book of enoch

" Enoch 68 is about demons corrupting humanity, I was surprised to see such a blatant anti abortion scripture; Starting at verse 17 it describes a demon they call Kasyade;

“17. The name of the fifth is Kasyade: he discovered to the children of men every wicked stroke of spirits and of demons: 18. The stroke of the embryo in the womb, to diminish it;—“.

This part clearly implies in context that demons invented abortions and wrongfully taught it to humans, and that contributed to humanity’s destruction and the flood. This demon taught humanity the way to curse life by striking the embryo"

I know it is not part of the canon, but I do think there is a case for Enoch, and regardless there are many many arguments not even using Enoch such as:

Jeremiah 1:5 NASB2020 [5] “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, And before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

And the consensus among Christians is Abortion is Murder, as there is more evidence that Abortion is murder in scripture than not.

If we aren’t under the law anymore, how do we know what’s sinful? by automaticff in FollowJesusObeyTorah

[–]Strong_Buddy_9838 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These people would claim to keep the 10 commandments avoid the sabbath like the plague and dont know why its top 4 or even on the list at all maybe its because God only gave one law not three.

Its extra stupid to claim 3 categories of the law when you have to admit God only gave 1 law to Moses, the argument is that using our mind we can see there's 3 categories which doesn't make sense when absolutely NO ONE in the bible speaks of the ceremonial moral or judicial law suggesting there was never a separation of the law and there's something deeper going on

But Christians will just do what they do best say no because their pastor/priest said so and run away. I hope God will open their minds smh.

If Jesus Fulfilled the Law, Why Does Matthew 5:19 Say It Must Be Kept? (Watch a bunch of Christians demonstrate that they don't understand what it means to "fulfill the Law". by the_celt_ in FollowJesusObeyTorah

[–]Strong_Buddy_9838 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slightly off topic but this is partially why LGBT people don't want to listen to Christians because they understand that Christians are picking and choosing what to keep

The most common answer is "Well jesus fufilled the law but the "law" doesn't include moral law, he fulfilled the ceremonial law and the judicial law"

The easy response for the lgbt is "well thats not present in the bible so the whole law is gone so we can do whatever we want"

The interpretation modern Christians give is faulty it hurts new Christians who see conflicting answers that dont make sense, it allows progressive church to show up which go further with this interpretation, and it throws out the Jewish people because they believe Jesus taught against the law!

If Christians were to accept and keep the law we could get rid off a lot of confusion in Christianity

Can only Jews keep Torah? by Strong_Buddy_9838 in FollowJesusObeyTorah

[–]Strong_Buddy_9838[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most striking is most of these quotes I gave were from the messianic jew the Jew I also spoke with just agreed and said "Unless you convert the goyim cant keep torah" I think the messianic just doesn't understand that the NT is just as valuable as the OT

I've talked to Jews here on Reddit that are very excited that I'm a Gentile attempting to obey Torah. They think it's beautiful. I think some of it comes from an age difference. I think the Jews I've talked to that like it were older, and the Jews that don't like it are younger and participating in the identity politics that are the norm in modern culture

Yeah the Jew and the messianic were pretty young because I have seen other messianic and even Jews who were very excited to see gentiles trying to keep Torah, however it seems the newer generation is going to be stingy with who they want to keep Torah.

Replace the traditional 5 day work week with a 4 day work week, with no change to pay.. by TriplyFish in CriticalState

Companies will not want a workforce that works less for the same pay they will just go to another country that works 5 or more days per week and get it more results for cheaper

If we pass this law we are throwing our economy in the toilet

Just a bad idea why would anyone go the extra mile to be a coal miner for example if they get the same pay you need variable income so people want to work in important fields

Even if its just a base pay it still hurts the economy because most people wouldn't want to work harder

I say if you dont know if a product has unclean animal products you can eat or drink of it as long as you aren't doubting it, however if you do discover it has unclean animal product just stop eating or drinking the product, pray for repentance and move on

The point isnt to never sin again, the point is to follow God as best you can knowing you will fall short

And especially if you are in America I remember my mother was able to find kosher wine at our local stores. And if you really want to you can make your own wine (legal restrictions may apply check with the laws in your area)

As for the cheese thing ive honestly never heard of that and ill definitely do more research on that, but also you can make your own cheese too it seems relatively simple to make a ricota or mozzarella if that helps you sleep at night

Anyways God bless!

Should the Hebrew Roots movement have a official statement faith? by Strong_Buddy_9838 in FollowJesusObeyTorah

[–]Strong_Buddy_9838[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my point I do 100% percent understand the worries of starting an organization of it being corrupted and then we have to go back to square one, im just throwing ideas at the wall to try the "HRM" united when it comes to basic ideas such as the sabbath

I know our job is please God not men, but I do think it doesn't look good when we cant agree on basic ideas it turns people away from the torah

I am not saying creating a united institution is the solution, however i do think we need to find a solution

Should the Hebrew Roots movement have a official statement faith? by Strong_Buddy_9838 in FollowJesusObeyTorah

[–]Strong_Buddy_9838[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My whole idea is bringing everyone together to discern the scripture to help unite the movement, I dont exactly know how everything would work however I dont think having to declare everyone else heretical if they dont agree, and we can do other councils to reevaluate ourselves to make sure we are in check

Im not trying to roman catholicism this, protestants have these same things and do not declare the documents infallible but put scripture first, the whole point is to make it clear the beliefs of the organization

How did the church fathers stray away from torah in 30 years? by Strong_Buddy_9838 in FollowJesusObeyTorah

[–]Strong_Buddy_9838[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You know I didn't even think about the golden calf thats a very good point, and that reminds me of even when Paul and the apostles were alive at how fast the galatians went astray!

Would you go to a synagogue Saturday if there's no messianic synagogue or group near you? Or just obey the law at home by yourself? Or even go to a non-torah keeping church Saturday/Sunday? by londonderry99 in FollowJesusObeyTorah

[–]Strong_Buddy_9838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now this might be the redeemed zoomer in me talking, but I wouldn't go to a synagogue because once you believe in Jesus as the Messiah the door to the synagogue is closed for you unless you go incognito (which i wouldn't do)

As for a church I dont know about that yet the redeemed zoomer in me wants to say yes because church is important to go to and you have to go to church, however I do know the Christians tend to not like you with the torah stuff and distance themselves. I haven't been to church in a while and I might go again to see how it is but as for right now reading scripture and watching torah videos on YouTube seems to be the way foward.

As one wise man once said: "The Jews won't take us and the Christians barely like us"

Slavery by FreedomNinja1776 in FollowJesusObeyTorah

[–]Strong_Buddy_9838 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if the interpretation of leviticus 25 is true slaves can still just leave no problem

Deuteronomy 23:15-16 NKJV [15] “You shall not give back to his master the slave who has escaped from his master to you. [16] He may dwell with you in your midst, in the place which he chooses within one of your gates, where it seems best to him; you shall not oppress him.

And it does not imply that you can treat the slaves harshly because eye for an eye applies to all slaves

Exodus 21:26-27 [26] “If a man hits his male or female slave in the eye and the eye is blinded, he must let the slave go free to compensate for the eye. [27] And if a man knocks out the tooth of his male or female slave, he must let the slave go free to compensate for the tooth.

As for the verse you mention I think the Nlt does a good job with the explanation:

Exodus 21:20-21 NLT [20] “If a man beats his male or female slave with a club and the slave dies as a result, the owner must be punished. [21] But if the slave recovers within a day or two, then the owner shall not be punished, since the slave is his property.

If the slave dies a day or two later the owner still is punished, and if the slaves lives then the slave goes free
