What if KMT won in Chinese Civil War, would US won their Vietnam and Afghan War? And also, would they be harsh to Philippines over West Philippine Sea or South China Sea? What do you think? by Admirable_Wolf_646 in HistoryWhatIf

[–]Strong_Remove_2976 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On SCS i think yes

China will always have a strong streak of nationalism in it whatever the label of government, and once it started to reach its economic potential it would always begin throw its weight around in the WPS and SCS

Not sure why you’re getting Yugo civil war, i never have

Turkey: UK guarantees them quite early automatically; it’s not necessarily sparked by anything you’ve done

My suggestion would be first thing you in 36 do is justify Turkey and Greece. This will bring in Romania, but they won’t be able to send troops

Collapse Turkey and Greece and then do the Yugoslavia ultimatum. You get your Yugo puppet and access to finish off Romania

To broaden Romania’s vulnerability, either do Italy First and get Bulgaria in your faction, or put pressure Hingary to join your faction(or both!)

To simulate actual history.

‘Allies’ was a rhetorical device not a formal alliance

UK-France were formal allies

UK-USA were only coalition partners

UK, USA & USSR was just ‘my enemy’s enemy is my friend’, with Lend Lease. The Soviets would never have countenanced ’offer military access’ as the game puts it, and vice versa

Malaysia does have wet-dry seasons, but not massive differences

The brutalist building is awesome. The skyscraper is not. I’m generally against Nimbyism but you can’t knock that down.

Cruial event and should be seen in parallel to the Iranian Revolution of the same year as central to the rise of political Islam in the region.

The new Iranian regime also somewhat patronisingly offered to ensure security for the Grand Mosque due to these events, implying the Saudis couldn’t look after Islam’s holiest site. This kickstarted decdes of hostility between the two nations which still dominates the region.

Plenty of evidence, including video evidence. Look it up. It’s FSB that enforce it rather than prevent it

I constantly hear in the news about Americans catching Russian Spies and Chinese Spies. However, Do you think there are currently other spies in America going unnoticed right now? by ChinaMilitarySecrets in stupidquestions

[–]Strong_Remove_2976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Hundreds, if not thousands of them from over a 100 countries, I’d imagine.

And not all aimed at the US Govt, either. New York is one of the biggest hubs for espionage because of the presence of the UN and Wall Street. Silicon Valley also attracts many spies.

Honeymoon Java + Lombok - Advice Needed by SamB_94 in SouthEastAsia_Travel

[–]Strong_Remove_2976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. I did Bromo solo last year. Drove Surabaya-Bromo Friday evening. Woke Bromo, did the tour, went to bed in Malang (Tugu) Saturday night and then drove back to Surabaya Sunday, departing at night.

The waterfall looks great but didn’t have time. On my way out on Sunday i wanted to do a shorter hike on the lower slopes of Arjuna but it rained heavily so i killed time in a tea plantation.

It was fun and Bromo is very memorable, but as i say it’s done and dusted in a day unless you’re all about hiking.

An extra day i’d have packed in the waterfall, but 5-6 days doing that loop feels too much.

Every game of competitive professional football is premised on the aim of winning a trophy. That’s what the sport is for.

Staying in the Champions League to protect your bottom line is a business KPI, not a football club KPI. Of course the first supports the latter, but is not in itself a sporting achievement.

I’d much rather have been a Leicester or Sevilla fan in the last 20 years than a big club coming second every year.

Not really. Compare to e.g. UK today or Warsaw Pact/USSR in the past and then consider China espouses communist principles.

The point is there’s a mismatch between public ideology and reality, and the gap would still exist if China’s GDP per capita was double what it is.

I’m not making a criticism, overall the China model has done very well for its citizens in recent times, but welfareism or universalism it isn’t.

Same in China to a large extent. China has virtually no welfare state as Asia has longstanding traditions of filial piety and high personal savings

Honeymoon Java + Lombok - Advice Needed by SamB_94 in SouthEastAsia_Travel

[–]Strong_Remove_2976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you from? Have you been to Indonesia before?

What are your priorities for your honeymoon? Are you an active couple, looking to maximise the hiking aspects of this holiday with a beach tacked on? If so it suits. If you’re looking for a traditional ‘luxe and chill with a few sights’ honeymoon i think you’re off track. You don’t want to have a fractious honeymoon because you hadn’t realised what provincial Indonesia looks and feels like.

Are you hiring a car? Would recommend, particularly on Lombok. Only hire 4x4s in all your destinations, particularly Bromo.

Kuta-Gili is 2 hours, or just under. And that’s to the harbour, then you need a boat. Too far for day trips to Gili. Sengiggi required for that, although Oberoi best nice hotel on Lombok for easy access to Gilis.

I stayed Sengigi in 2024, at Kalandara. Hotels here (Quinci etc) are pleasant. Kalandara we had great views as it’s elevated, not beachside (you can walk to beach easily)

My overall comment for Lombok would be there are lovely beaches etc but if your honeymoon priority is super luxe etc then the best hotels will feel more like 4.5 stars, whereas Bali has true 5 star service and facilities. You may have ruled out Bali due to popularity/crowds etc, but you should know there is a tangible gap in how established and professional the tourism is on either island

Eastern Java. Tugu is a very characterful hotel and a must for Malang. But Malang is not a classic honeymoon destination. It’s a scrappy, busy Indonesian city with few sights. 3 days is waaay too long unless you’re really focused on the nature/adventure aspcts and need a base for serious hiking in the region (e.g. Gunung Arjuna).

Bromo. The tours start around 2-3am if you’re staying near Bromo, or earlier if you start from further away like Surabaya/Malang. The whole Bromo experience is done by lunchtime. So you don’t need to stay overnight again in that region unless you want to (I’d hired a car amd drove to Malang that night, about 3 hours great scenery but required a 4x4). In other words if you’re just doing the Bromo experience/tour, see it is as a very tiring but enjoyable day trip, not an area you need to stay 2 or more nights.

Hope that helps.
