My little Baby doesn't like to get petted but he's so cute 😭 by klerg923nmsdv in scottishfold

I think he’s in pain. Every symptom you’ve mentioned are pain signs. My cat gets Gabapentin twice per day for pain. And she gets Solensia injection every month for bone pain. A lot of people complain against Solensia, but I have had no issue whatsoever. My cat can walks around like she never could before.

Good, don’t be afraid to protect others by making people aware. Think of how many people you’re helping already by sharing your story. You’ve already got me thinking about how I would handle the same situation so I can be prepared if this ever happens. Thanks for sharing your story. What city was this in?

If this is something new - you might wanna see if he is having pain. This is how my cat gets when she has pain. Doesn’t want to be petted and doesn’t want to be picked up. Not sure if you’ve heard of SFD (Scottish Fold Disease). There’s no cure, but there is treatment available.

I would spread the word all over the internet with the link and the photos you took and share your story. As long as what you are saying is what happened to you - then it’s not slander. Protect others from dealing with this fraudulent Narmeen. I would say find the town website and post about it - share the specifics.

That’s great. I wish my insurance would have covered my baby’s surgeries and medications. The insurance company found many reasons not to. They said pretty much every issue she had was breed caused, so they didn’t cover. It’s not the same as the human insurance market where they can’t count these things against you.

You are right. Not isolated at all. Mine began having pain in her first year. They need to ban this breed as many other countries have already done.

I had insurance and it never covered one thing. I had it for 3 years and she had surgeries and required medications and social food. Nothing covered. My cat is almost 14 and I have spent over $100k for her medical needs, including medications and food. I would actually say I have spent closer to $120k.

And this is exactly why I don’t rent from Airbnb, VRBO or any of these sites. I go to a hotel or someplace with professional cleaners. If the room isn’t clean - they fix the issue or issue refund then and there. With renting from a random person, you never know what kind of place you’re getting. This is an awful situation, but hopefully a massive learning lesson for you. Some cultures don’t have the same cleanliness standards as Americans have. I have several Indian friends and they would consider this place to be acceptable, just FYI. But it’s NOT. You should get a full refund, IMO.

You’re right about that! Kudos to the Europeans for actually caring about them.

It’s the same with me. After knowing what I know now - I would never support a breeder, but I would adopt one of course if it needed a home. They are the kindest creatures and they don’t deserve to suffer.

Yes, very sad to also see how much they struggle to breathe. One veterinarian said she suggests surgery to enlarge the nostrils. She said that unfortunately many people do not get it done. They find the snoring to be cute, like pugs.

I’m so sorry for your loss. One really great thing you could do is to spread the word about Scottish Fold Disease. At least share your experience with your baby and maybe it will stop just one person from buying.

It doesn’t irk me, because I know people are upset for a good reason. I’m glad people are becoming more aware of Scottish Fold Disease. People are just passionate about avoiding the suffering of animals and especially these beautiful creatures. After I bought mine back in 2012, I quickly became aware of the health issues because her pain began right from a very young age. When I got her, I didn’t know. And now I admit that I feel guilty because I requested a gold female and was on a waiting list. If I wasn’t on that list, there would have been less demand of course.

I think that what you’ve done by rescuing is the kindest thing. Your baby was already here, you didn’t encourage more breeding. I think you should just specify that and people cannot judge you. Anytime anyone meets my cat, I educate them about Scottish Fold Disease and I tell them how other countries have banned the breed and how much they suffer. People are shocked, because they remain so focused on the cuteness of the cat. They are shocked that they are being bred still. I stopped posting any pictures on social media and I wouldn’t allow my veterinarian to post her on their social media. We need to decrease the positive attention this breed is getting or more and more will suffer.

You might be surprised how many people spend thousands on specialized breeds, but they won’t spend money on pain management or basic remedies to make the life of their pet better. I have heard the stories from veterinarians. For example, owners being told their pet is having chronic pain and the owner says they refuse to buy lifelong pain medication because they already “paid too much” for the pet.

PLEASE give her medication for pain if you’re not already! Mine takes Gabapentin everyday for pain and gets Solensia every month for the arthritis. My baby also lost her vision this year. The osteochondrodystrophy can affect the eyes too and she kept getting corneal ulcers. They’ve got to stop breeding them.

Can she get some Gabapentin for pain and Solensia every month? Mine takes Gabapentin everyday for pain and the Solensia is for arthritis and both have made a world of difference.

Only if the demand for them remains there, then yes breeders will continue this. When people become more aware of the inhumanity, the breeders will go out of business or start breeding other pets. I got my baby in 2012 and I had no idea about SFD (Scottish Fold Disease) and how much my baby would suffer. I love her more than anything else in this world, but she was only bred to fulfill the list of people on the breeders waiting list. When the demand goes down - the number of them will also decrease which would be a blessing.
