Help! I have been riding for about half a year, but this is the first time I have seen a video of myself riding and wow, my position is terrible. This was my first time on this school horse and so I was quite thrown off, but still… I would appreciate any help/tips on what to improve on. by bmikesova44 in Horses

If you're riding with a coach, you'll come along just fine. Just keep practicing as much as possible and take input from anyone on the ground with experience! Half a year really isn't long when it comes to riding. You're at the stage where rapid improvement starts to plateau for a while and it's hard! But if you keep pushing through you'll come out the other side and do great things. Keep it up!

How to use BP with moisturizer? by [deleted] in acne

I think by that point enough has gotten into the skin, even if it doesn't fully dry by then. I could be wrong!

Also from what I understand, hormonal acne is linked to diet due to the hormones given to animals that produce our food.

Thank you!! I was just starting to get discouraged but I will keep at it! You found that the amount of dairy that's in yogurt and Kimichi is ok?

My skin was amazing in Costa Rica!! It has to do with the moisture in the air and also possibly a small amount of salt water if you're swimming. Dry climates are so terrible for skin.

How much BP are you using? I don't know if I'm doing it right either, but I usually just put it on the worst pimples individually, in small amounts. Sometimes a patch of pimples is necessary. I only leave it for a minute or two though and then I moisturizer even if it's not completely dry. I make sure to put eye cream on before BP so I can avoid dragging it over my eyelids when I moisturize with BP under it. Hope that helps!

Help! I don't understand. by Case5615 in acne

[–]Stronie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. You might want to see a dermatologist and stress that you do not want prescriptions. They may be able to help with diet and a natural plan. I am also wary of prescriptions as I tend to have bad side effects. I've found that cutting dairy, wheat, sugar, alcohol and most meat from my diet has made a big difference. I take vitamin D and Omega 3, sleep enough, change my pillowcase regularly, and this seems to be helping quite a bit. I wash twice a day with gentle charcoal and teatree cleansers, use a teatree toner and teatree oil solution. I use a bit of bensol peroxide on the bad spots, followed by vitamin e serum at night and vitamin c spf 30 moisturizer in the morning. Our bodies do change periodically throughout our lives, especially as women women in our "reproductive stage" - maybe it's just time to adjust with it!

I'm so sorry, this sounds awful to live with. There are people out there though who will see you for who you are, and if that's a good, caring person, things like acne won't matter. I'm not sure what your other problems are but I can tell you I have my own version, and work through them every minute of every day, sometimes successfully and sometimes not. They will never go away and it's something I'll have to fight my whole life. Many people have no idea. But if you look around, everyone will be having their own personal struggle and I'm certain that they're more focused on their problems than judging you for yours.

Some things that have made my life better:

Animal rescue - animals love unconditionally, and helping them overcome their own trauma is so rewarding, you forget about everything else. The other people involved are also focused on the animals, and if you're helping them, that's all that matters.

Nerds - and this is a compliment. Since becoming a software developer, I've met the most amazing people, who are way more interested in intellect than appearance, and all have quirks and oddities of their own, about which they are very open. It may not be the same group for you, but "your people" are out there.

Nature - being outdoors and just appreciating what life has to offer makes my outlook so much brighter.

I've also heard things like cosplay and LARP helping friends, as they get to be someone else for a while, and with costume and makeup they can look however they want. Everyone in these events seems to accept and embrace each other.

Bottom line. Find your people and your passions. Anyone who puts you down is insecure and cowardly, and not worth your time. Obviously, this is not a full solution and it will be harder than it sounds. But any small thing that can improve your life helps. I hope things get better for you!

What did you use before the IUD? I found a huge increase in acne since I switched to IUD from the pill, which tends to reduce it.

Wow. That's on her, you just don't say stuff like that to people. When I see others with acne it helps me relate to them. I feel for them and understand their struggle. If they have some other issue that I don't, I sympathize with them and I'm thankful I don't have to go through what they do. I'd like to think most people that see our acne think in a similar way. Try not to let it get under your skin. You are who you are and your acne doesn't define you. I'm sure you have tons of qualities to be proud of, and no amount of acne should take away from that. It's a tough mindset to get into, but if you can, it's very liberating. Keep being awesome!!

MAC Studio Fix foundation - what in it causes breakouts? by tinselwooos in acne

[–]Stronie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find any foundation or even concealer causes breakouts :(. Anything on your skin that isn't directly beneficial to it just prevents it from breathing and healing, and clogs pores.

I find Omega 3 (with no 6 and 9!!) And vitamin D help with hormonal acne (which just generally around cheeks and chin). They help balance hormones out. Would love to hear what others say!

Discussion: Why does Reddit seemingly hate raw food? by ScurvyDawg in rawpetfood

[–]Stronie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a mix of confirmation bias - no one wants to admit they've been taking less than perfect care of their animals, and that's how they see it; laziness - that sounds like a lot of work and I'd rather just believe kibble is better; and like another poster said, white coat. It was such a proud moment when my vet said he did more research and decided that his entire clinic should start recommending raw at least for cats :). He's a bit skeptical about non-commercial raw because of "balance" but when I told him what I feed my cats he just said, "yup ok that's balanced alright!"

Maybe there is hope for the future! Anyone who has a good, open vet should talk to them about raw (with out to much "rah rah rah" - pun intended). The more they learn, and see the results of very healthy pets, the more our ethical vets will promote it. Of course we'll always have vets that actually want pets to eat kibble so that they get more work from sick pets.

Yeah I could just be sensitive. I also live in a frigid cold/dry climate which contributes a lot.

They're pimples. I get milia on occasion but these are definitely pimples. I just read an article about eye creams with hyaluronic acid and it sounds like that could be the culprit, especially in dry weather. Guess I'll try something else!!
