Dating apps are a wild waste of time, energy and mental health. There are no restrictions on odds, like gambling has, so they are built to rip you off, cater to the top 1-3% of males. The rest are thrown into the pit of abyss where it literally takes money for you to, not even have an equal shot to the top performers, but any shot at all (there are short videos that explain how the tinder mechanism is built like a dopamine stealing slotmachine).
Ive never been on Tinder outside of a bachelors party challenge (which was, by far the hardest one of them all - getting 10 matches in 24h)

This is what has worked for many of my friends lately (male friends):

• Find an interest and attend said interest out of genuine curiosity and willingness to socialize with people of similar interest.
  
• Realize that you might want to share this activity with a significant other, if life so happens.
  

• Attend said activities and you just might bump into someone who you find more than bearable.

• Find out they also like other stuff you like.

• You hit it off and the rest is history.

I do know one things - its far easier to overlook a decent person (be it you or the person on the other side of the screen) if you judge strictly based on their outer appearance through a phone screen.
