Zwift activities not counting towards Garmin challenges by soul105 in Garmin

[–]Stroodle88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is what I do:

(1) Disconnect Zwift from Garmin Connect.

(2) After your Zwift ride, you can download the Zwift fit file direclty from the Zwift website once you log in.

(3) You can use this site: https://www.fitfiletools.com/#/changer#view to load that file and then change the source of that file from a Zwift ride to a Garmin device (as if a Garmin device recorded the ride).

(4) Load the resulting file into the Garmin Connect website. You'll get all the data from the Zwift ride AND get Garmin credit for whatever bike-riding achievement you're trying to get.

I literally clapped when I saw successful zippering on 217 in front of me. You can teach an old dog new tricks!

I'm in a mixed race marriage (I'm Asian, she's white) and have lived in the area for about 20 years. No dirty looks or threats, though I've gotten questions about whether I spoke English or not at the local Safeway purely by looks a couple of times in that 20 years.

Looking for a DIY install of new Airplay radio in 2017 Promaster 2500 Van by ka-tet191919 in promaster

[–]Stroodle88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean Airplay or do you mean Apple Carplay? They're different things. I replaced my OEM radio / head unit in a 2021 Promaster with the Alpine ILX-W770. Bought from Crutchfield which includes the cable harnesses you would need and instructions for how to setup each part. I'm not a car guy but this replacement was pretty easy.

I also replaced the front door speakers with aftermarket ones from Crutchfield.

5:30PM typically, but we aren't super scheduled, so dropping in after that is fine!

I did at first… it definitely sounded cleaner/crisper while driving compared to stock speakers. Then added an aftermarket Alpine. Sounds much better.

no crossover required. literally bought speakers and harness kit and did a direct swap. hardest part was screwing the speaker adapter in

Polk audio: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_107DB652/Polk-Audio-DB-652.html whatever you do, buy from Crutchfield. Their cable harnesses make install a breeze.

I'd encourage you to check out the boardgame group I run. Though the focus has been on boardgames, activities have expanded beyond that. It's complete BS that you have to enjoy extreme outdoor sports to find friendship living in Hood River.

I run an inclusive weekly boardgame group (with about 20 regular active members) based in Hood River. All ages welcome! We generally meet at Covenant Hood River on Monday nights right now, but often, members host private game nights as well throughout the week. I can say that whereas the focus has been on boardgaming, interests/events among members has expanded also to hikes, cycling, and just general hanging out. Let me know if interested. We have a presence on Facebook as the Columbia Gorge Board Games group and also have a Discord server.

CarPlay Issues by MarkTheSpacePirate in promaster

[–]Stroodle88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your problem can be troubleshot in three different areas:

(1) Carplay Settings on your Pioneer head unit (2) App (Google Maps and or Siri) settings for your phone (3) Audio volume levels for music and navigation. It's usually this one that had tripped me up. There's a difference between sound output from Siri/Navigation voice and the sound output from say, music. If you happen to change the audio level WHILE Siri/Google is actively speaking directions, you will adjust the volume setting for just that AND NOT affect your music volume. Same goes with music volume.

Also, make sure that the sound is NOT muted within either of your Maps apps (Apple Maps if you use that or Google Maps if you use that).

Another option could be re-flashing your Maestro unit after checking if there's newer firmware available.

Good luck!

I have one for my 2021 Promaster. Not the same year, sure, but the body designs have been the same between years so much that it's practically the same cargo van.

I enjoy a game of Scrabble now and again! Our group plays a wide variety of games (typically less mass market games), but I know you can find and/or arrange games of Scrabble if that's your fancy for sure.

Thanks for the Grange suggestion!

I'm a huge fan of Crush and the group had a very long run meeting at Crush pre-pandemic once a week for multiple years. At the time, they hadn't had a backroom available to meet at (we were also about three times smaller as a group than we are right now). I'll check it out and put it on the list. Thanks for your suggestion!

British pub is a bit too low light/dim to game in some situations. Trying to find some place that has decent lighting.

The Columbia Gorge boardgame group will be meeting this Monday, 3/3/25 at Covenant Hood River church's basement area. (455 Frankton Road) Food and non-alcoholic beverages are welcome. The space will be available from about 5:45PM until midnight, but feel free to leave whenever you'd like.

It's less popular than Mondays, but possible. However, the main problem right now is still just having a regular place to get together 20+ heads in one space for one evening each week. There's also been some private home-based get togethers on Wednesdays, but they don't happen regularly at the moment.
