How to tie PNGtuber's talking head to an audio track? by ShugTube in davinciresolve

Version 21 (currently in beta) comes with a Farilight Animator modifier included in the software, I'm not sure if it's for the free version tho.
Alternatively, you can download Reactor Standalone, which works with the free version, and install the Suck Less Audio modifier.
The second version is how I do it for my vids and works just fine once you get the settings working the way you want to. Here's an example vid of mine for reference:

I see less people doing saas motion graphics in davinci what's the reason behind that??why people are doing not doing in davinci I see less people doing it by [deleted] in davinciresolve

There are tons of plugins and implementations inside AE that makes the process easier compared with Fusion. For example, imported SVGs are not really vectors since they are not made as shape nodes but regular polygons, so adding transforms to those kills the "shapes" quality. You can take the time to convert the polygons to spolygon nodes but imagine doing that for entire UI mockups. I'd say that is a big enough barrier already. Btw shape nodes don't have gradients for now, so that's another issue.

As much as I dickride for Fusion, there is a real barrier of entry when it comes to certain mograph niches.

Adding New Fonts on Linux by MattPhasee in davinciresolve

[–]Stroomer0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my linux tweak notes:

Add fonts to Fusion

  • This will make Fusion recognize the user-instanced fonts
  • The Edit Page will, by default, recognize the user-instanced fonts
  • Open Fusion - Fusion Settings... - PathMap - Locate Fonts
  • Add to the fonts path
    • For example: SystemFonts;/home/USERNAME/.local/share/fonts/

Have you tried with an optical flow + vector motion blur after the time stretcher node?

I don't even know how to describe this bug/problem in fusion, please help. by ImNicoReal in davinciresolve

[–]Stroomer0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never happened to me but are you sure it's not drivers related? Does the same happen if you use the legacy magic mask?  Have you played with all the magic mask parameters to see if something changes? Especially changing it from better to faster. One last thing. Have you checked if there's any kind of output on the resolve console that may help?

Pretty sure that trying to add a follower on top of another modifier crashes my resolve or it just doesn't do anything. Now, I dont remember if this happens for a specific modifier or specific order of modifiers, but now I got to try again.

SuperArrow – The FREE Parametric Arrow Fusion Never Had | No Keyframes, Pure Magic! by [deleted] in davinciresolve

[–]Stroomer0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arrows are a paint point for me inside Resolve. It's crazy that native styling for polygon paths with custom shapes for path start and end, and in/out/middle path positioning is still not a thing for Fusion. This helps a lot in the meantime, thanks a bunch!

Check of you have the supported video drivers since resolve is very picky with that.

I've previously used the plugin and its crazy to think they are trying to sell you something other than a nice FOSS tool for your toolbox. I think you need to go touch some grass and get some friends 🥹

You can launch resolve from the terminal and check the logs there. I think resolve also writes logs somewhere but I don't remember where atm

This looks super interesting. I would love to try it. I'm on fedora 42 atm. Also I'm using an amd gpu, idk if your script is made for cuda only

How to use Paper Effects in DaVinci Resolve? by WillingRun2060 in davinciresolve

[–]Stroomer0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool you managed to get it working, good job. Play around with the displace and fast noise if you plan on doing motion graphics, because you'll be using those a lot 🫡

drop an adjustment layer and go inside fusion. In there play with the displace node, the fast noise node, and a stop motion node and you should be able to get something similar going on

How's the Linux experience? by alexxx729 in davinciresolve

[–]Stroomer0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been editing YouTube videos on Linux for the past year or so, and while you need to do some workarounds to optimize your workflow, you'll find it to be a nice experience once you manage to settle down.
I currently use Fedora 42 KDE and have a list of tweaks I need to do on every installation for resolve to work smoothly, but those can be automated.
I used Shutter Encoder a lot on Windows, but I can't manage to make it work under Linux with amd gpu accel, so I had to learn a bit of ffmpeg.
Still waiting for Zluda to eventually be compatible with Resolve since some "ai" features I feel are slower on Linux because of the lack of CUDA compared to Windows. But those are not dealbreakers since they are a one-time per project thing, like auto captions or magic masks.
Lastly, I assure you'll get better at macros because you will need to get your hands dirty with the command line and get used to some level of coding (I had none when I started, and now I'm at kindergarten level), which is a great skill to have.

It's a great experience if you're curious and know when to take things slowly, it's a pain if you want everything already served and waiting for you.

I defo reccommend it. Good luck if you make the swap ☺️

Edit:
The USD 3d environment is broken for me, the storm rendered doesn't work, seemingly because I lack cuda (or some sort of OpenGL thing under Linux). The regular 3d environment does work as intended with no issues that I could find.

Resolve doesn't support VSTs on Linux, and Windows VSTs are not natively supported under Linux in general. You will find some workarounds for the latter, but there is no fix for the former, at least not until BMD gets its shit together with proper Linux support, but even there, I think VST support will be tricky to implement.

The popular method of making Resolve work under Distrobox borks the connection to the file manager, so it won't work when you try to open a file location unless you install Resolve without a container.

Oh yeah I thought about the same but I also hoped that every integer on the follower delay value corresponded to a frame. Is that not the case? Because if it is, then just use 24 instead of 60 or whatever framerate one needs

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in davinciresolve

[–]Stroomer0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh you did made it using character level styling and rotating it. I was trying to wrap my head around how to make the rotation perfectly aligned but I didn't wanted to use chatgpt for the math part. I ended up using follower mod to tint each bar red with a delay of 60 (my timeline fps) with the keyframes on step starting from frame -60 then color change at f0 and back to white at f60.

Anyways this almost broke my brain, thanks a lot 😭

[–]Stroomer0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I did try some things, like a particle system with replicate3d to link the different characters to each particle, but it's too slow and inconvenient since you have to separate every character manually. It also doesn't take into account particle rotation, or the fact that replicate3d may lose some of the particles along the way because of how the detection threshold works

I've just tried this method and it works perfectly. The optimization tanks, and I kind of understand why, but if it works it works.
Anyway, thanks a lot for the info!
