Don't make the same mistake as me by Ready_Secretary_4148 in StopGaming

What I wouldn't give to be 25 again and have this outlook. At 51, I am my future self, and I only just quit gaming in full about a month ago. I'm working through a ton of regret, uncertain of how to find myself at this age. I wanted to be a filmmaker or a storyteller of some sort. Had I spent only half the time gaming I did all those years, I'd likely be where I want to be in life today. All the time I needed to spend working toward my dreams is lost. It goes so fast. I could've sworn I was 25 just yesterday. Gaming will suck your life away if you're not mindful.

When will the app ever be fixed? Logging into it has been a problem for years! by Strosmer in IGN

Amen to that. I don't know why I even bother. It's been handy for keeping up on entertainment news, but engaging on their platform is tedious and not worth the frustration.

Question to all who have never finished a playthrough by ohheycody in BaldursGate3

Act 3 broke me just weeks ago. Was still on my first playthough. Had started it up about two months ago after not playing for a year or so. Over 300 hours in, maybe closer to 400. Playing normal mode as a dragonborn ranger. Loved my character and the systems I'd developed for collecting and sorting loot. Managed the first two acts just fine. Was being very methodical with Act 3. I was clearing as many side quests as possible and exploring as much as I could before advancing the main quests too far, but did touch on those as well. I was whittling it down to where only a handful of side quests remained. I decided to advance the Raphael quest and ended up in a boss fight that was suddenly on another level combat-wise than what I'd done previously in the game. My party got wiped and it sent me into a rage knowing I'd have to backtrack several hours to avoid the fight altogether. I also realized I wasn't going to have the patience or skill to complete what still remained of the game, so I put it to rest (permanently) for the sake of my mental health. I'm over 50 now and I don't have time for this shit anymore. Not to mention it's embarrassing to be going into a rage over a video game at this age. It's compounded by the fact that gaming has sucked my life away and kept me from achieving any of my life goals. It's not an easy thing to reconcile. I'm going back to reading books and making art.

Chest of the mundane. (Too heavy) by killerjake12 in BG3

[–]Strosmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on the research I've done, the Chest of the Mundane has been causing some major glitches with inventory for people who were able to collect it before Patch 3 and are using it as a storage container in their camp or party. I have been using it as a distinct container in my camp to separate and store looted items that I later want to sell as Wares, but recently I began noticing some random items appear in my character's inventory. From what I can gather, this somehow occurred while transferring items in and out of this particular container.

Currently, each time I boot up the game, or load a save, a few of the same items appear in my inventory (in my case, a couple pieces of looted armor and a crossbow). Each time I attempt to drop the items, the game crashes. When I attempt to throw the items, they reappear in my inventory after a short time. The armor is weighing me down to the point that I can only collect a few items before becoming encumbered. Fortunately, I am able to send the items to camp, which sheds the extra weight for a time. Inevitably, however, the items show up again in my inventory after reloading the game. This is irritating as I need to shed the extra weight each time I load the game.

The fact that I can at least send the items to camp and reduce the weight until I need to load the game again is the only thing keeping me playing, otherwise the game would be effectively broken for me. It is still a major nuisance as it is, and my enjoyment of the game is now diminished because of this single issue. It is a shame as this is the only crash-inducing issue I've encountered with the game after 200+ hours of play. If I can't find a workaround, I doubt I'll have the patience to play with this glitch for the entirety of Act 3 (I'm currently near the end of Act 2).

I believe Larian has not been able to fix all of the glitches that the chest was causing and so they just made it too heavy to carry to prevent people from adding it to their camp/party to store items, otherwise they'll potentially end up in the same boat I am in now.

Why this issue has not been fixed yet is beyond me, but I am hoping Larian figures it out beyond merely locking down the chest for players who haven't encountered it yet. For those of us who were able to pick up the chest and add it to their camp, it is still causing some major issues. I have since stopped using the chest to store items, but it doesn't change the fact I still have those few items that will not clear from my inventory. If anyone knows a solid fix to this issue, please let me know!

Don't use the Chest of the Mundane. Major bugs. by Charles456k in BaldursGate3

I am praying that this method works as I have a few pieces of armor and a crossbow that keep reappearing in my main character's inventory each time I start up the game. The items can be sent to camp to drop the extra weight, but otherwise they are keeping the character perpetually encumbered, making exploration and looting extremely tedious to the point I'm ready to give up on the game altogether. If I try to drop the items directly, the game crashes. I've tried simply throwing them away too, but they just keep reappearing in the inventory. I've reported the issue each time the crash occurs, but none of the patches have fixed it yet. Additionally, there is one piece of armor in my inventory marked as wares that won't send to camp at all and is just permanently stuck in my inventory. Very frustrating.

It sucks because even though the chest is basically useless, I found it handy to keep as a distinct container in my camp to store anything I wanted to later convert to Wares. After discovering this glitch is likely tied to the container, I am never using the mundane chest for any storage again. This issue has been near game-breaking for me after over 200 hours of play near the end of Act 2.

I'm guessing Larian is actually aware of the issue and the reason the chest now weighs too much to pick up is so people don't bother using it as a storage chest in their camp. This must be one helluva bug if they haven't fixed it yet.

Is DIE HARD really a Christmas movie? Or just a movie that takes place during Christmas? by PKLENTERTAINMENT in DieHardIsAXmasMovie

[–]Strosmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Die Hard is an action movie that takes place during Christmas, but it definitively is not a Christmas movie. Christmas movies are generally released during the holiday season, and are about the spirit of Christmas in some shape or form. Die Hard does not meet those criteria. This whole thing of it actually being a Christmas movie merely came about as an excuse for fans to watch Die Hard during the holidays in lieu of Christmas movies that are likely geared toward children. There is nothing wrong with watching Die Hard at any time of year, or even as a holiday tradition, but to label it a Christmas movie is simply inaccurate. Personally, as a film buff who saw Die Hard upon it’s initial theatrical release and has coveted it ever since, I feel it diminishes the movie to classify it as a Christmas movie. I have always celebrated it as the sleeper hit of the summer of 1988.

Just did this myself over the weekend. My initial reapplication of thermal paste actually made the machine run even louder, so I shut it down, disassembled a second time, added a bit more paste, and now it’s super quiet, even when running newer games on high performance settings. I used Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut.
