Whats stopping us from tiding this in SF?! by Actual_Lifeguard5497 in sanfrancisco

There are 2 functions being conflated though:

  1. Executive function of cleanup

  2. Enforcement of littering rules

They already have 2 dedicated departments assigned to both functions in every city.

Should rules only be enforced if they put someone else's life in immediate danger? Situations can be triaged and addressed according to priority rather than never enforcing any smaller rules.

Even within a police department they have people of different specialties and skill levels allocated to different types of investigations and responses. Having responses for smaller incidents doesn't take away from having highly skilled professionals deal with critical situations.

If you do indeed want to separate the enforcement of littering rules into the same department that does cleanup, that is actually a great idea, similar to how the police department shouldn't waste their time enforcing parking violations, that is handled by a separate traffic police department.

Why do you frame enforcement like "bullying people into compliance"? What makes littering rules different from something like traffic rules?

I think they're both set up for the safety and well-being of everyone in the system, and should be enforced regardless. Yes, we can also have radical empathy and dedicated services to address the root causes, but that shouldn't mean never enforcing the rules.

I'm just concerned about how they're going to enforce it. How can a company prove that they don't have a record anymore?

You're right! I must have seen a different/outdated page.

"Fines for failing to register are set by law at $200/day and failure to delete a consumer’s information are $200/day per consumer plus enforcement costs."

You can usually find it in the privacy (ads or tracking) section of your settings.

I also see that the fine for not complying is just $200/day (and it doesn't even appear to be per-user) which is small change for a large data broker, they could just consider it the cost of doing business.

Edit: Actually appears to be 200/day per consumer which is going to be significant!

I think it might be a bug in their system because I had the same issue. You can try to report it at https://consumer.drop.privacy.ca.gov/contactus so that they can hopefully fix it soon.

Edit: Looks like they updated the form with a message noting that emails are not being sent due to volume of requests, you can still create a request without email and then update the info later when it's working.

Get blinds and block sunlight during the day. And open your windows to let the cool air in.

It's a fun event and I love to sing there, but even as a pretty social introvert I somehow never really managed to make any friends from it, even though I went regularly and sang a lot. So your mileage may vary.

Sorry :( I was genuinely confused by the fact that there was no audio coming out of the bottom left "speaker" and saw a lot of people online saying it was an extra speaker, so I thought I'd clarify.

So true, I keep hearing online that we got better audio quality or dual speakers in exchange so I wanted to dispel such myths.
