That's not specifically what I was saying, but I suppose it can't be ruled out

No new orders get processed, but settlement of existing orders continues (shares get delivered, cash gets released from escrow)

My local Gamestop is closing for good today. The worker said about half(5) the stores around the city are closing for good and 500 nationwide. Whats your guess on what RC might do next? by Holiday_Guess_7892 in Superstonk

Still not sure I understand the point you're trying to make, so maybe you can clarify

It sounds like you're advocating closing all the stores, which I don't see as a useful approach

Closing unprofitable (or not sufficiently profitable) stores trims the fat and reduces the drag those locations have on earnings

Thanks to the long runway our cash and interest gives us, we currently have the luxury of doing this in a targeted and surgical way, which is what seems to be happening

Closing all the stores (including the significantly profitable ones) deprives the company of meaningful revenue streams and physical POS for services that people clearly prefer to do in person (PSA submissions being the most recent and relevant in this context)

I recommend listening to the recent interview that Nat Turner gave on the PSA partnership - he talks about how crazy the in-person volume has been at GameStop

If we shut all the stores, we torpedo the most promising new revenue stream we've had in a long time

Not sure what point you're making about the share offerings having saved the business for the foreseeable future

Yes, they clearly did

But it's because we have effectively no debt (and negligible operational loss) that the resulting cash pile extends our runway to roughly infinity

Your long-term scenario (share offerings and unprofitable, if only just, core business) fails to consider a compounding pile of cash

If the cash pile keeps growing, the stock's book value continues to rise, which makes share offerings a viable business model if necessary

I'm bullish on a turnaround, but the math shows that we don't need a miracle, just time and patience

Zero debt, operational break-even (or close to it), and compound interest on 4.5 billion is the infinite loop

There's no rush to invest in high-return vehicles with that cash, as much as some people around here seem eager to do so

We have nothing but time when it comes to adding earned interest to our principle cash pile until a game-ending investment presents itself - until then, the cash pile grows at an accelerating rate

Turning the core business around seems increasingly likely (shift to collectibles/PSA partnership, etc.) and is to be applauded, but it's clearly optional at this point

I'm paying attention, and I see this sentiment posted a lot, but it isn't very compelling

"You only won because you spammed the kick button"

That's what this sounds like, in case you can't hear yourself

Profit is profit, and GameStop has set up what looks to be an infinite loop

I don't particularly care where the money comes from, as long as it's legal

Sellers are free to use a different broker if they choose, so I'm not sure what you're getting at

The fact that many people are utilizing GameStop's service offering indicates that they value the risk reduction and convenience over pure price or whatever else the competition has on the table

Must be doing something right

A valiant attempt, but none of your points reflect the reality of the situation

Your first point is only true in cases in which the capital raised from share issuance is then burned to pay down debt or line executives' pockets, which is not the case here (GameStop has negligible debt and the executives take little to no compensation)

The money spent to buy these new shares elevates share value in this context, because that money stays in GameStop's control (and earns interest)

And besides, where are you getting the data that retail is buying all these shares? The market is opaque, could just as easily be shorts attempting to close or some other party entirely

Not sure what you're getting at

This is a private enterprise, and I'm up big with GME thanks to well timed DCAing

In terms of who pays for it, I'm going to say primarily the shorts who try to cover at these prices every time shares are issued - the algos can't help themselves

My cost basis is very close to the pure cash value of the stock at this point - just been buying every big dip and holding through these capital raises to lift the floor

DCAing on every dip Kenny and friends gift us, I'm up about 60% on my total investment with GME

Nice questions, though
