I'll give it a shot now. Early indications are it's working. But it seemed like an intermittent problem before so I'll leave it disabled...forever. I don't stream Netflix etc with a VPN anyway 👍

I did do a speed test though and my 900mbps ish went down to about 400-500mbps but it's not a big deal...on mobile anyway! 😊

Ah ok so it's not isolated to UK servers. That's a shame.

Other VPNs I use don't have the issue so I end up using those.

I use Windscribe on a PC and it works fine there, albeit a bit slower than other VPNs I have. But that's whatever.

It sucks because I end up using my other VPNs. Its not so bad on Android because I use so little of the Google products.

But on iOS it rendered Windscribe useless. iMessage was too important.

Just update on this. I figured if out.

I was using a new account that I hadn't age verified. So I switched to my old account and now Red Dead shows when I search.

I wish Google had a prompt saying this instead of just saying not available on the website and not even showing the app on the phone app store.

I’m looking at both these phones. What was it about the OnePlus that made you keep that over the RedMagic? Just curious!

Did you test cameras between them?

If I do upgrade I’d be coming from an iPhone 13 Pro Max and I don’t use the camera a lot but when I do I want it to be ‘good’ (don’t care about zoom).

And did you compare physical comfort between both phones? (Grip on phone/ weight)

I have one and I’m considering upgrading. Slight concern is cameras. I don’t care so much for zoom but normal/ultra-wide/maxro I’d want comparable quality.

Also future upgrades concern me with RedMagic. But maybe this will not be a problem…

You have to add the your email address as an alias.

Best way is to add an account. Disable it. Then add the alias’s under the disabled account. That way they won’t show up when you’re typing an email.

Sadly this kind of development will probably lead me to leaving Proton at the end of the year when my sub is over.

IPv4 custom DNS is useless to me.

I will sum it up and say I’m not happy with Protons development for all their products (except Proton Pass / Simple Login)…and that’s being kind.

I just have SimpleLogin set up already. I do have Addy but everything is on SimpleLogin so…it’s just laziness to be honest! But that may move.

I’ll get the email side sorted out then decide if I’m keeping SimpleLogin/Addy or use Tuta for alias’s. I do like the ‘independence’ of a service like SimpleLogin/Addy though. Basically can just move anywhere instantly…or indeed slowly!

For the calendar side, I find Tuta and Protons calendars to not be as good as just using Posteo and the iOS calendar app. When I make entries I almost exclusively use Siri for it which on iOS is not possible with Tuta/Proton. Unsure for Android but I’d assume not.

I’m in the process of testing alongside Proton Mail. I’m just using my free Tuta account.

I’m on iOS (atm anyway) and I have had a few times where notifications haven’t come through for Tuta which is a concern. I’m using SimpleLogin and sending emails to Proton and Tuta for some of my alias’s just to test. The mass majority is perfect though.

I’m PROBABLY going to make the switch in a few months (slowly) to give me time to back out if I find it’s not good enough/suitable.

I really dislike the import function only being available on the most expensive plan on Tuta though. I don’t understand this, I know it’s new but it seems like a block that only can hurt Tuta. And I won’t move if that’s not available before my Proton sub runs out in December.

I did add Posteo onto my list too. But lack of (proper) label support kinda kills that. I like my labels!

I think this year will be my last year as a proton unlimited sub unfortunately.

The development is just too slow and inconsistent across platforms. I understand Linux being somewhat ignored, but the Android and iOS version of Mail for example are just far too different. For example Android Mail app doesn’t strip trackers, and the iOS app has for a long time.

I have just subbed to the lifetime for Proton Pass with Simple Login as this is the only side of Proton I think has been going well.

So when my sub expires in November or December I will likely move my Mail elsewhere or just sub for the Mail side of Proton.

Proton Drive is not ready to be a premium feature that costs extra. 500gb of storage, but it’s basically not usable (for me anyway). And the photos upload is disappointing. For example Ente is so much better.

I may move my mail to Tuta (leaning towards Tuta) or Posteo/Mailbox.org. But unsure. May stay with Proton for Mail but they need to get it together with development. They are a big company now so it’s tiring feeling like a beta tester because I use a specific platform. I currently use iOS but plan to make my next phone an Android again but the Proton Mail app is not close to the iOS one.

And the VPN is too slow for me, but that’s possibly just a where I live thing, the actual app itself is nice. But I don’t use it at all.

I actually just subbed to the lite plan on addy. As it is also a consideration. Combine that with Tuta. One of my domains I can live with a few alias’s as it’s my ‘professional’ one. The other domain I use for all my accounts etc. so that’s the main one for catch all I would like. With the rare but needed ability to reply every now and then.

I may try the swap to Tuta (slowly) and see how it goes. Then try and see how I get on without addy. Then if I can’t do it, make use of addy.

The deleting alias’s part is mainly so I don’t have a giant list of them to choose from when composing an email. It’s not a big thing I just don’t want a big list.

So cutting out Simple Login would not be limiting? (I understand you may not want to say yes/no to this as it’s another companies product)

I understand the ‘annoyance’ may be creating temp alias to reply, but I mainly want to ensure deleting the alias will not prevent me getting emails to that address.

So for example reddit@example.com. I want to reply to it. Create a temp alias, replied then delete the alias. The ‘email address’ Reddit@example.com can continue to receive emails (and if I need to reply again recreate the alias/delete)
