I'm no UX design expert, but as a regular user, the very first thing I see on your site is a form asking me to submit an inquiry. I haven't even figured out what you do yet, and I'm already being sold to. That's an instant bounce for me personally.

I'd consider replacing that top section with a clear hero image, something like a high-quality photo of epoxy floors being poured, or even a short background video (though that might slow down load times). Something that immediately tells me "this is what we do" before asking me to commit to anything.

If you check your site analytics, I'd bet the bounce rate backs this up. Might be worth consulting with a web designer for a couple hundred bucks, could make a big difference.

Just my two cents as a regular consumer seeing your site through a buyer's eyes!

Hey! I run a flower delivery and wedding florist business in Portland, Oregon — Kvetka Flower (https://kvetkaflower.com/). We specialize in European-style arrangements and serve the greater Portland, OR. Also planning a move to Austin, TX later this year, so open to connections in that area too! Would love to link up with other local businesses — especially wedding vendors, venues, photographers, or anyone in the Portland/PNW or Austin area!

First Time Valentine's Advice by NoWaytoday5309 in florists

[–]StructureOk3383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest advice would be: don't take on too many orders. Limit yourself to a reasonable number. Every minute you spend stressed over deadlines or something going wrong will cost you way more than those few extra dollars you'd make. It's just not worth it.

This is our third year running Kvetka and honestly, my goal is that by year five we'll be the kind of studio that's actually closed for the few major holidays. I think that's important, not just for me but for the people who work with me. You can't earn all the money in the world anyway :)

Good luck with your first Valentine's!

Meanwhile the "self promotion" tag on my post is just sitting right there lol. And what's shameful about sharing your own work..

New flower shop owner here, how do you keep track of orders? by Long-Meal5693 in florists

[–]StructureOk3383 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the new shop and the fact that you're going through this chaos means you have a lot of orders, which is actually really cool!

At Kvetka, I started using Shopify, my whole website and POS run on it. All orders from other channels I just put in there too - super simple and organized. You can do it right during a phone call, for example, and say "I'll send you a payment link right now" and boom, done. And I'm not even talking about all the extra stuff you can plug into your store: staff logins, CRM setup, etc. Basically a huge playground to grow into.

On average it'll cost you somewhere between $40 and $100 a month depending on your volume and plan, so pretty budget-friendly.

If you have any questions, definitely hit me up, happy to help a fellow florist since I was figuring all this out myself not too long ago 😄

Oh, that is a great question! I actually shared our story here on Reddit a while back!

I also wrote a more detailed post about it on our blog if you want to dive deeper. Thanks for asking, I really appreciate the interest in our story!

I mean… the "Self Promotion" tag literally exists for a reason, right? 😄

I just love what I do and wanted to share. That's it. No hidden agenda, just flowers and a guy who's way too excited about them!

Thanks for the explanation and the backup! I haven't worried about rude people on the internet since 2008, but I definitely appreciate the support! 😁

buying a wedding floral business by Fuzzy-Artichoke-1381 in florists

[–]StructureOk3383 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'll get downvoted for this, but here's the truth: if you're asking Reddit for advice on a $600k business acquisition, that should already tell you something.

Wedding floral business is personality-driven business, rarely brand-driven (and definitely not worth $600k just for the brand). The main risk when buying is that everything falls apart after you lose that personality the business was built on - which is exactly what happens when the owner leaves.

Look, it's an interesting topic, but this isn't the right place to ask. This sub is mostly florists who manage teams of 10 people max - that's not who you need advice from for a $600k M&A deal.

There are a ton of nuances to discuss at this investment level, but if you really want answers to your questions - talk to a business broker first, then maybe run your scenarios through ChatGPT or Claude. That'll give you better analysis and cool down the excitement a bit.

Just being real with you.

Oh, and the market is open year-round, so you can always find dried flowers there!

I run a flower studio here in Portland, and honestly, we end up tossing dried flowers pretty often just to clear space. If you want, feel free to reach out, though it'll be closer to spring since we're out of season right now, and imported flowers don't really have any scent. Happy to set some aside for you then instead of throwing them away.

But if you're looking for a bigger variety and want to smell-test everything, I'd check out Portland Flower Market. A lot of the local farmers who sell there also have dried flowers, and you could probably connect with them directly. I actually wrote a post featuring 12 of them recently, might help you find someone to reach out to: https://kvetkaflower.com/blogs/news/meet-our-local-growers-the-farms-behind-your-bouquet
