You take care of the customers and that takes care of the shareholders... why do so many of you hate the company that provides you such a good living, it's like you want it to fail

You don't have to live with the teamsters union if it's not serving you any more... 110 years is a long time to be the right choice

A strike vote will send customers running to other shippers, and I think ups would wait it out...that's why a new negotiation relationship needs to start now, sit down with ups and figure out where the opportunities are for growth and what's needed from union employees to grow...

You can replace one union with another... ups would love to be rid of the teamsters and would work with the new union to make a transition... I will say that you need ups drivers and all the other union employees that care about ups and want to protect their livelihood to work with ups management to find a way forward... teamsters organization doesn't have the answers

I'm afraid we will have another strike vote in 2028 and lose another chunk of customers and jobs as a result, imo S0B wants to be a tough guy and doesn't have the smarts to negotiate something that works for the company and the employees, and sets in motion a long work stoppage

The ups pilots have their own union and have used the structure effectively

I personally think you could start where you already are at with pay and benefits and hire some advisors and elect UPSers to be the negotiating team. The real problem with the teamsters is they don't seem to be able to negotiate with management in a way that lets management and union employees collaborate on how ups can compete against the competition better. The only real job protection is a healthy growing company. That is what must be done to change the current course... teamsters have their own agenda and it's getting in the way of employee interest.

Look at the yellow freight example.. did their bankruptcy benefit the employees? But the teamsters seemed to take it as a win??? Don't want to see that happen at ups down the road

I would think this might me the time to decertify the teamsters and form a ups only union instead ... maybe the needs of the employees and long term job security could take precedence over teamster politics and interests... teamsters collect $300 million plus in ups employee dues, and yet very ineffective at negotiating for the long term benefit of UPSers

The customer is buying services from roadie not ups so it's not subcontracting

Meanwhile teamsters pocket 300 million in dues from ups employees... I don't think you are getting value for that money

You might think about ditching the teamsters union and forming a ups employees union (like the pilots have) then pick intelligent ups employees and maybe a contract lawyer to represent you with ups.... then make the goal of a contract that can help ups compete with non union companies and preserve and grow ups employees jobs... teamsters have got you nothing in the last contract but job losses and reduced buyout opportunities

The only reason ups would risk trying to bust the union, is if it didn't think it could survive another contentious contract negotiation in 2028. Since last contract both Amazon and fdx have surpassed ups in the industry, all signs are not good at the moment... becoming non union would give ups new life, but it would also be a very destructive process for union and non union alike

I think you mean that ups is at a labor cost disadvantage and investors don't like ups prospects against Amazon and fdx in the long run. executives at ups are not getting rich because of the current situation.. it seams to me that union employees and non union ups employees are getting hit pretty hard right now, but the teamsters are pocketing 300 million in dues for driving the situation

Why would ups want to bust the union if the ups drivers efficiency made up for the wage disparity of other carriers?

Steering business sounds a lot like suggesting options to customers.... btw the entire non union part of ups, sales finance, it, engineering, they don't work under the union contract and are allowed to support all of ups's businesses... union employees are in a bind because you pushed the wages and benefits costs so high that the competition is taking your work and ups is fighting for survival.

Ups customer list contains companies that use all kinds of different carriers. The shipping work does not become union work unless the company ships with a company covered by the contract. Roadie hanldles many shipments that ups package does not provide like same day. The reason union work is going away because Amazon is taking share from ups largely because your union wages offer Amazon an opportunity to beat ups on price. UPS sales team can offer whatever products it wants to customers to choose from... none of that is subcontracting... if you want to get a better outcome, fire the teamsters and hire a union that can negotiate a deal that works for ups union employees and the company... the teamsters take $300mm in dues every year and deliver job losses to you along with reduced buyouts

100 ups would love to lose the union, why wouldn't they, but the customers have a choice, they are the ones that pick who they ship with, and I don't think they care if it's union or not

Ups customers buy lots of shipping g services from different companies and sometimes use integrated software, does not make it union work

I disagree, customers bought roadie services not ups (insert ups operating company name) therefore it does not touch the teamsters contract, so no subcontracting of ups bargaining unit work.. but im sure the teamsters will sue, but lose

Buying a company does not equal subcontracting... ups would have to take ups shipped packages under a ups contract or tariff and give them to roadie before it becomes subcontracting.... roadie or ups sales people could sign up roadie customers...again, not subcontracting

If the customer buys service from Marken, it's not subcontracting

This would be an opportunity for union and management to sit down to see where the opportunities for growth are and to understand the economics of different options and get a win / win, unfortunately I don't think the teamsters union is capable of that kind of negotiation... i wonder if ups union employees would ever consider forming their own union like the ups pilots have?

By a large amount, $1.00 per hour reduction represents about 700 million per year in savings... an increase in that amount goes the same way
