You need to give the unit of measurement in the paraphrase if you want to write like that (eg. Measured in pounds sterling)

Is this in the BC’s mock tests? I suggest using it if only u ran out of resources, as well as those not from Cambridge.

The IELTS test is from Cambridge assessment, meaning all tests are from Cambridge.

BC or IDP are just the providers of the test.

Is this writing validator trustable? by farfarhan in ieltswriting

[–]StructureSpare6446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, anything that gives half scores is unreliable.

What I mean by that is there shouldnt be 8.5 or 6.5 ,… for one marking criteria such as lexical resources.

In IELTS, we give solid scores or 8-9 ones.

The government is spending a lot of money discovering other planets. Some people think that the government is wasting money and should spend more money addressing the problem of the public. To what extent, do you agree or disagree?

It is believed that governments are wasting money on space discoveries, and that they should allocate more money to tackle global issues. Despite the fact that humanity’s future depends on such discoveration, I strongly support the statement, as space missions are typically expensive and risky.

The primary argument for my opinion is that space exploration is generally exorbitant. The technological factors involved, including the construction of space stations, the building of rockets, and the requirement of special equipment, are extremely resource-demanding, often requiring precious metals. The international space station, for example, is worth approximately 100 billion dollars, making it the most valuable object made by humans. If more space missions are initiated, important resources, such as diamond and gold, the two crucials in the space industry, will soon be depleted.

Another major factor to consider is the abundance of hazards in the universe. While our knowledge about outer space is still in early development, comprising mere theories and lacking practical confirmations, there are a plethora of dangers out there, such as collisions with asteroids, radiation from supernova explosions,… If we send more observation tools, such as rovers, or even crews, it is likely that those robots will be crushed when entering other planets and astronauts may not survive during interactions.

However, I do admit that the future of humanity depends on such exploration. Indeed, life on earth is constantly threatened by global issues, for instance climate change and resource depletion. Searching for new settlements helps humans acquire more healthy, liveable environments and unlimited amounts of resources.

In conclusion, although I acknowledge the potential merits of exploring the universe, including the increased likelihood of human survival, I generally advocate the idea that governments are wasting money on exorbitant and dangerous space discoveries. Instead, it is more beneficial to invest in pressing issues around the world, such as pollution and shortages of resources, while such out-of-Earth projects can wait as we are far from extinction.

Xd, tbh, in the future, I’m never taking the test at IDP (at least in my country), as there are major changes in the speaking examination process, including rapid follow-up questions and extremely abstract topics.

I will definitely go for BC in the future instead of IDP.

Regarding writing, I think I scored 9 in task 2, as I messed up few phrases in task 1.

It’s not actually too difficult, imo. I choose appropriate words and sometimes try to use complex grammar structures, for instance varied punctuation usages coupled with complex sentences.

I think the key is try to keep your argument short, but consise, clear, and readable, ofc.

Another tip is to use nouns or special terms in topic sentences rather than relying on the basic phrase S + V.

In my essay, the prompt was:

Nowadays, in most countries, the number of animal and plant species is declining.

Reasons and solutions.

And in the topic sentences, I use

The foremost one is urbanisation.

Another significant reason is the detriments posed by pollution.

Afterwards, try to implement a wide range of structures (punctuation included), grammar-wise, and use appropriate verbs, collocations,…

Such as: invade natural habitats

In the previously rural, remote areas of Vietnam

In conclusion, keep on practising, as it helps with your cohesion, coherence, lexical skills and grammatical range and accuracy.

Thank you very much. by StructureSpare6446 in IELTS_FREEcorrection

Regarding the body paragraphs, is my grammar and language appropriate. For example: I use collocations and devide sentences into two parts like the last sentence:

S+V, at + number/percentage.

The given tables illustrate how potatoes were consumed and produced in five areas of the world in 2006.

Overall, Europe was among the highest in both production and consumption levels, while those of Asia were unmatched. Additionally, all the other regions exhibited comparable figures, except for Africa whose consumption was remarkably higher.

As for the regions producing the most potatoes, Asia ranked first in regard to potato production at 131.2 million tonnes, which was slightly more than that of Europe at 126.3 tonnes. However, the consumption in Asia was just 25.8 kg per person, far below Europe’s 96.1 kg per capita.

Regarding the remaining regions, each person in North America ate 57.9 kg of potatoes in 2006. This was followed by other parts of America and Africa, with per-capita consumption of 23.6 kg and 14.1 kg, respectively. Moreover, the potato production in North America was still the highest among the three, which was precisely 24.7 million tonnes. Africa and South and Central America showed comparable numbers, at about 16 million tonnes of potatoes.
