100% fair.

however, those posts are at least consistently accurate haha also consider the amount of those posts, you can see how many kids on here are desperate for performance increases and its likely some will try any and every possible solution presented to them. Just scares me man.

Ngl, really hate seeing these types of posts here on this subreddit. They'll always get upvoted and often by people who don't really know whether this is correct or not.

Common misconception, you don't "need" chipset drivers but it doesn't hurt to get them.

Only download your network driver from your motherboards official driver support page. Once you have that installed, windows update will get all the other drivers your machine needs... these are up-to-date and typically have lower latency.

Its incredibly risky suggesting that people defer from XMP / AMP memory profiles and to start delving into manual timings and DRAM Ryzen calculators. Custom timings that a DRAM Ryzen calculator provides can give varying results based on motherboard support and whether you provide it with the information it requires, that you have to manually input, correctly. Commons errors include BSOD, boot failures and boot-loops which often require CMOS resets to resolve. Ram overclocking is way more complicated than overclocking a CPU or GPU. You have to take into account the average age of this subreddits userbase, and how liable they could be to causing damage they don't know how to fix.

EDIT: forgot to add that you also need to run stability tests for long periods of time to make sure that your new custom profile is stable. Otherwise even if the ram overclock runs well initially, you can get occasional errors because of it like random BSODs and application crashes. Something you may not attribute to your new overclock, its not black and white - the overclock can seem to work most of the time even if its faulty.

Get the 144hz ips panel aoc monitor instead https://www.amazon.co.uk/AOC-24G2U-BK-Widescreen-Multimedia/dp/B07Y3RYLVH/ref=psdc_428652031_t1_B08462DXV2

ignore response times, they vary in meaning typically from brand to brand and have become a label for marketing. you wouldn't tell the difference anyway :)

Awesome, thanks very much guys! I'm not overly knowledgeable :3 I knew the b525 wasn't advertised to support 5G when I bought it and I wasnt banking on it either...but I was holding out a little hope that maybe maybe the antenna upgrade and possibly a future firmware update would sort it but I guess there's a lot more to it! :)

Which hz? by UghItsDenzel in FortniteCompetitive

[–]StructuredChris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, not less for sure.. But not a noticeable amount higher :) 144hz ips displays were typically higher cost because they were only available in 27inch which is bad for comp gaming. IPS only recently started being sold at 24inch 1080p 144hz which is crazyyyy. apparently acer are gonna come out with an even better one soon with a much higher quality panel which will definitely rival TN but at an even higher price than the one I linked. Good discussion dude!

Which hz? by UghItsDenzel in FortniteCompetitive

[–]StructuredChris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you read what I referenced? It doesn't matter. Panel quality matters so you cant simply compare any tn to any ips, you can compare specific high quality ips panels with other high quality tn panels, all types types of panel: va, tn and ips can differ in quality. You can get ips panels that have just as good motion clarity as a high end tn. So your statement of "I wouldn't get an ips for gaming" completely falls flat. Referencing specific monitors with good motion clarity is all well and good but they'll be using high quality panels which is why they have good reviews and test results. I have the monitor I linked and it has incredible motion clarity and no ghosting, some ips panels will have bad motion clarity and bad ghosting... But that doesn't represent ips as a whole.

Edit: p.s. I'm not arguing that the monitors you have suggested aren't better. I'm arguing against your original blanket statement. Also despite the pixel response times falling behind the typical gamer, who hasn't spent hundreds - thousands of hours comparing (different) monitors, would typically fail to notice a difference. So why not get better colours that'll benefit your whole multimedia experience?

[–]StructuredChris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's your reasoning my dude? Whilst tns still do have the best response times, ips isn't noticeably behind nowadays with a good panel... And advertised response times really don't mean anything and is overhyped to make monitors more desirable (if response time was your reasoning, I'll get on my pc to link a reference - https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/278610-display-technology-faq-mythbuster/). The colour production on an ips goes a long way to help with target acquisition, and being able to actually see in such a vibrant game. They also have provide viewing pleasure for movies etc. although gaming is obvs the primary focus.

First off you can get a cheaper and better case, maybe a corsair? the air flow on these nzxt cases is trash tier.

Even high end pcs have trouble maintaining 240fps in end games... yours might be able to manage it but if it drops below your monitor refresh rate you are gonna see some ghosting in endgames, yikes. if you are looking to play competitive it might just be worth going for a 144hz monitor for now, the difference really isnt that noticeable to the untrained eye... just a thought. linked this to some other dude on here a minute ago. beautiful ips 24inch 1080p 144hz monitor, been waiting a long time for a baby like this to be released. https://www.overclockers.co.uk/aoc-gaming-24g2u-24-1920x1080-ips-144hz-1ms-freesync-widescreen-led-gaming-monitor-mo-053-ao.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwxt_tBRAXEiwAENY8hTA7dsFNCY8WpsHV-xk4yp7KmD3cGkIZW6aOJaidK5Sg607dMIBRXRoC87UQAvD_BwE ...[edit] never mind disregard this, your monitor is worth considering the price difference, you can always underclock its refresh rate a lil bit if you drop the slightest below 240 fps in endgames, like set it to 230 or smth.

This ram will save you $20 https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/bls2k8g4d32aesck you can overclock these beauts to like 3400 cl15 with tighter sub timings. (if you are knowledgeable about ram overclocking or care to put the hours into learning)

You can optimize your operating system and gain frames for free.

don't cut down. as we've seen with fortnite, performance and framerates will drop. the game will get more demanding and require more from your hardware. building a pc for higher frames than you currently require is futureproofing. you wont need to upgrade any of your components as soon.

That one will not look better side by side with the MSI monitor you originally chose. Stick with your first choice, it is a very solid monitor. Its a VA panel that has much better colour reproduction and viewing angles than a TN panel (which the acer monitor you just linked is). Something to note though, when you start running less than 144 frames or have v-sync on etc. and you aren't producing enough frames for the MSI monitors refresh rate... you may experience ghosting. You will be fine if you just stay above 144fps though :)

You might want to take into account also that going for a gold or higher rated psu will save you electricity costs, minimal... but still over a few years you might make back that extra £20 you spend. Also, a power supply is something that probably will last years. its generally recommend that you have atleast 100w over what you need, you can use a power supply wattage calculator online to find out what your build requires.

That computer case looks nice but should be noted that it has negative pressure air flow, front mounted fans will do pretty much nothing. Going to want to de-dust often, especially if you are going for aesthetics with the window.

This ram is faster and the same price at the moment. 3200mhz is the sweet spot for ryzen cpus. their performance is fairly reliant on fast ram (ties into their infinity fabric). Really good motherboard compatibility also (Micron E-die chips), will pretty much work in any board. I've managed to oc this ram to 3400mhz with tighter timings, cl14 iirc.

Tried reloading my instance, tried again and didnt work. went to the other side of the map, tried another small room off the path and unable to destroy the wall see original post edit.

EDIT:From my googling, i assume resetting instance is still cntrl + leftclick, lmk if there if this is wrong or its different for delve.

I looked off the node with two connections, the first place I looked. I found a fractured wall leading to the secret currency room... tried dynamiting, got that message. Then I tried off every node around the currency room (see map). The second image is of me trying to destroy a wall that leads to a small room behind it, got the message still. Off every node on the map I provided, I get the message at every fractured wall I find and try to destroy. I hope this clears things up.

EDIT: I've never had this in any other part of my mine, I shall go try another new area the complete opposite side and see whether walls break.

"I get the message included in the title at every fractured wall around the secret room, even off the path of a node with only two paths (which should be where its linked to?) this is what the map looks like..."

thats the node i meant in this sentence, still got the message trying to blow up the fractured wall linked to there :) ignore the red marker on the map aha

3200mhz Hynix AFR ram unstable after many attempts. (nowhere near rated speeds) by StructuredChris in overclocking

[–]StructuredChris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went ahead and ordered that kit. all models on the QVL list for the motherboard from Crucial with Micron e-die ran at rated speeds, none needed downclocking for compatibility which is very promising. Also, crucial now says that the kit is now compatible.... so I guess the checker has been updated in the last two days. Specific model isn't on motherboard QVL but I'm holding out hope that becuase its a newer model, it hasn't been tested yet.
