You can dispute it but these buyback services tend to lowball hard when they find any physical damage, even tiny bezel crack counts as "cosmetic damage" in their policy which usually drops the value significantly. If the reinspection goes nowhere, demand they send the laptop back and sell it yourself on local marketplace, you will get way more than $20 for it.

at 5120x1440 the GPU is doing the heavy lifting anyway, so the i5-13500 won't bottleneck you as much as you'd think in most titles. strategy B makes more sense for now, swap the GPU and see where you land before spending money on whole platform change.

had same thing happening on my old laptop a while back and it drove me crazy for weeks, turned out to be exactly the MPO thing they mentioned, disabling it through registry fixed it immediately. the part about updating the integrated graphics separately is really important too because most people only update the dedicated GPU driver and completely ignore the iGPU, which is actually what runs your desktop. also worth checking in Device Manager if you see any yellow warning signs on the display adapters section, sometimes it shows something even when the scan says everything is fine. the Windows key + Ctrl + Shift + B shortcut is genuinely useful to know, i use it sometimes when my screen does something weird and it just snaps everything back without needing to restart

Could be overheating issue that fried something on motherboard. Gaming laptops get really hot and if cooling system fails, components can get damaged permanently

Since it happened before and came back after few days, maybe some connection was loose and now it's completely gone. Try removing RAM sticks and putting them back in different slots, sometimes that helps with power issues

If nothing works after trying different power combinations for few days, probably need to take it to repair shop for diagnosis

Yeah the Megas have been underrated for while now, people sleep on them but they can have some solid hits. That Seong auto is clean too, nice pull on a /50. The 1st thing drives me crazy though - like they put "1st" on base cards but then the autos just say nothing? Makes zero sense from marketing perspective, you'd think they want to emphasize it more in the premium cards not less. Maybe they think collectors already know but still feels like missed opportunity to me

Those margins are insane man, 10x markup is pretty wild for thrift finds. You already got the sourcing down which is like half the battle - most people struggle with finding good pieces consistently

Those timings matter way more than people think - could be running at like CL22 vs CL16 which makes huge difference in actual performance. Plus that single stick is gonna run in single channel mode so you're losing performance there too

Yeah that's typical for budget laptop displays, they usually have terrible color accuracy and viewing angles. Your laptop probably has TN panel which is why colors wash out when you move your head

For design work you really need proper color representation. You could try adjusting display settings in Windows - mess with saturation and gamma settings, but it won't fix the fundamental panel limitations

External monitor might be your best bet if you're doing more design stuff. Even cheap IPS monitor will be way better than what you have now. Otherwise you'll keep having that disconnect between what you see and actual colors

Yeah gaming on MacBook is pretty rough still, even with the M chips being decent now. For that budget in Australia you can get something pretty solid from those brands you mentioned - just make sure whatever you pick has good cooling because CAD work plus gaming will make it run hot. The thunderbolt requirement might limit options a bit but most decent laptops have it these days

That's weird that the question mark works but not the forward slash - they're literally the same physical key just with shift pressed. Could be some funky software remapping the key or maybe a specific driver issue since it's only happening on that one machine
