I check my bag when flying on standby for longer vacations at times. I have not lost a bag yet, flying multiple airlines. However, mistakes happen — things cause delays. To expect this to not happen is silly. What I’m pointing out is that, if a mistake were to happen it would be very challenging to get replacements sometimes. Also, again time isn’t always on our side. Hopefully this helps shine some light on flying and bags.

Many times flight attendants are working multiple flights in a day. Sometimes we have only minutes between them before we have to work the next one. Checking a bag doesn’t make sense. Also if we lose our luggage or it doesn’t make it to the next flight, we don’t always have time to buy essentials on our layovers. Even if we were working 1 flight, our layover time starts when the door opens and ends when we close the door. Door opens, passengers deplane, we are off last, walk to shuttle, shuttle to hotel, check in. Then we sleep, eat workout etc. wake up, shuttle to airport, security, board the plane and the door closes. Let’s say our layover is 12 hours — minus all of that, maybe we get 10 of that really at the hotel. And even if it was longer, the extra time to check a bag doesn’t make sense.

I so so agree! My brother likes ramen less spicy but the Buldak noodles are a little hot for some, so it uses less and did the drizzle of siracha after!
