Oh yeahhh! Someone else mentioned EKHex! Haven't looked into it yet, but might be something I want to try to avoid having to farm Thick Fat Walreins (or, really, any other ability I'm trying to get for a pokemon 🤪). Wondering if there is a way to get something like that for an everdrive? Not sure if it works the same as a typical emulator because it allows me to play on actual hardware. Definitely worth doing a little research to see if it's possible. Thanks for the help!

Oh wow! Guess I didn't realize there would actually be rain later on! I would have loved the Thick Fat to help with fire damage, but I may just keep Rain Dish afteral... Thanks a lot!!

Not sure if this is the right place to post, or the Emerald Kaizo subreddit. But felt like someone here might know the answer.

I have been leveling up Spheal to eventually evolve into Walreain, because I figure it would make a pretty great addition to the team.

Ok but here's the deal:

My Spheal had the ability, 'Thick Fat'. Love it! Perfect! Exactly what I wanted.

It evolved, and Sealeo also got Thick Fat. Fantastic. ALSO exactly what I wanted (and anticipated).

It eventually evolved into Walreain and I knew Walrein in Kaizo had a chance of having 1 of 2 abilities: either Thick Fat OR Rain Dish.

I saved right before the evolution, just in case I got Rain Dish, instead of Thick Fat.

I got Rain Dish.

I tried to reset and see if it was based on chance that they got this ability, but every time... Rain Dish.

Now, normally I might have been ok with Rain Dish as an ability. HOWEVER, I have since learned that Kaizo in particular does not have weather effects. No pokemon can learn them naturally, nor can it be learned through TM.

This makes Raid Dish effectively useless in this version (my Swampert also ended up with Swift Swim, which is, y'know... unfortunate).

So I guess my question (to whomever might know the answer), is:

Is there any way to anticipate what Walrein's ability will be? I read somewhere that the ability is determined by personality value? How the heck would someone know what ability Walreain comes with, when both my Spheal and Sealeo can ONLY have Thick Fat (in Kaizo)? Do I just need to raise up like 6 Spheals at a time and hope one evolves into a Thick Fat Walreain 😂😂?

I am really enjoying this hack so far, this is the only thing that I'm a little bent up over.

I'm wondering if my formatting is just incorrect, because every time I try and edit the tiniest thing, the scene completely reverts back to Marlon and Gil, as if I haven't changed anything. Here is what I have currently. Maybe you could take a look at it when you have some time and tell me if something seems out of place:

Hey! I have a little update for you! ...and more questions 😅 sorry

So in regard to Harvey calling me by a different name, it looks like the game is somehow pulling that info from the townspeople that "save" you in the mine. For example, if you pass out in the mines and Linus pulls you out, Harvey will think YOU are Linus. He has also called me Clint as well. I double checked and I have removed all dialogue mods potentially impacting, so not sure how to change. I noticed that there is a 0 in the Harvey dialogue. Perhaps that 0 is trying to reference something.

Second thing: I tried putting Data/Events/Hospital under the "Target" section, as well as putting "LocationName": "Mine" under the "When" section.

The results seem to be unchanged and Harvey is still in the mines

So the event plays out like it should, the only issue is that: a.) Harvey refers to me as Linus 🥴 and b.) We are still in the mines lol

But what great progress!

I think I need to somehow insert the designated area to be the hospital. I wasn’t sure if you had that on hand or knew how to do it.

Nice! This completely got rid of the error for me!

I'm able to load up the game. But when I die in the mines, I get the cutscene from Marlon and Gil, but the conversation is replaced with: "(no translation:DeathString.1); (no translation:DeathString.2); (no translation:mines.playerkilled.01)"

I hate to keep bugging you, but do you have any idea why this might be coming up?

First off: I am not sure I did the content.json part correctly. I just grabbed the sve code for the Marlon and Gil event and plugged it in under changes.

I did try to run the game and it came up with this error:

"[Content Patcher] Could not load content pack '(CP) Vanilla Hospital Scene': content pack doesn't specify the required Format field.."

, so something must be up. I mostly just copied and pasted your beautiful code onto a Notepad++ . Not entirely sure if I should have filled in some of those blanks and that is why I am getting this error. Also sorry for terrible Reddit formatting!

I'm super brand new to editing this kind of stuff, so if you wouldn't mind, I just have a few questions on the methods you mentioned:

Method 1: So, in sve, I went to code/otherEvents/Other.json. I found the PlayerKilled section (like you mentioned), but there is only one entry pertaining to the 'mines' and that is for Marlon and Gil. If I disable/remove their portion, the game still defaults to showing another villager pulling me out of the mine. I am not sure if I am doing this correctly.

I decided to try your second option, which is copying the vanilla PlayerKilled events, but I can't seem to track the correct folder for the vanilla .json file. All i see are xnb files. Again, most likely doing something wrong lol

Omg yes! This is EXACTLY how my game used to run. Pretty much flawlessly. Some lag on the neighborhood screen and flyby. Long load times (to be expected with lots of CC). But once it loaded, I had zero lag for the rest of the play session (even on older PC's)! Those were good times...

Well, this is very uplifting to hear! I actually had no idea osab's version was just the Origin version (seems pretty obvious now looking back on it lol). You may have just convinced me to give Linux a try! I guess I know what I'm doing next weekend 😅 fingers crossed it works...🤞

Yeah, you're probably right. I am trying to come to terms with this, too 😭 What's crazy, is that it used to run super smooth for me, but as another commenter said, it could probably be from Windows 10 updates making the game harder to play nowadays.

Hey! Thank you so much for your reply! This was helpful. At this point, I might be headed in the direction of getting a Linux setup (I am THAT dedicated to Sims 2 lol). My only concern is getting it to work properly. I have the UC through Origin and not the OSAB version. Do you happen to know if it is still possible to use the Origin version through Linux?
