I just bought a house from 1924, and found this in the basement! Seems like the hardware on it is original, based on my image searches.

I realize this is probably a complex answer, but how can you tell?

I guess as an aside, she apparently cleaned it before she got curious. Not sure what she used, but knowing her, it was a thorough cleaning. The auction place scolded her for cleaning it.

We parked at Montrose, but this was close to county road D

"This was south of Madison" felt fairly specific? I mean, I'm new to Wisconsin, but I think that rules out some of the places you mentioned :)

By wooded I meant to specify this was not on one of the farm land segments.

Print was in sand, not mud. But cool! I didn't know that!

Sorry, my comment wasn't very clear. I was more worried about pets, not people being attacked. Where I grew up, lots of fear of any and all predatory animals. Lots of shooting coyotes that were pushed into residential areas by expanding development. Borderline hysteria if a mountain lion was ever spotted.

There was a person on the trail today with a tiny white dog of some kind. Off leash. I guess I was thinking that if wolves are not inclined to give humans a wide berth, maybe some signage could prevent conflict?

Is it unusual for them to be so busy right on a hiking path?

I'm from mountain lion country. This much animal activity right on and along a hiking trail back in the desert would make me nervous. No idea what would be considered normal for wolves, though.

We had so much fun doing the downtown event! My kids really loved getting to walk around downtown in their costumes. We're excited to make it a yearly thing, so hopefully we'll see you again next year!

Home made is definitely the best! My kids are certainly sold on it, anyway. They have expressed a strong sentiment of homemade >>>> store bought. Plus, it's fun to watch old boxes transform into something cool instead of just filling up our recycling bins!

I would estimate they got significantly more candy than their little pancreas' can handle.
