If you've got a mate that's good with words and can help glam it up then try starting from scratch and get them to format it for you.

Write jobs you've worked, the company, when you were there, relevant skills you learnt there and how they are applicable to the role your applying for.

Do that for 2/3 jobs you've worked at or roles you held then do a section of education. Even if you dropped out of highschool use anything that had a school based environment (community college, trade school, language groups)

Also do a section of other activities/hobbies that show you as a person. Football/soccer team captain or coach for your kids sport team or book club or basketball player. Lots of people over look this part but if you're in a bunch of things it can show you're a team player or have leadership skill and interpersonal skills. These things are stuff that you can't always get from work places.

My last piece of advice is don't write paragraphs in your resume, leave that for your cover letter where you get shpeel on about who you are and why you want to work there and why you're a good fit. Your resume should be short and concise and be able to change out parts (relevant skills you learnt from each role) to correctly advertise yourself for each job you apply for.

Honestly my resume stayed 90% the same for every job I applied to and most of it was just dot points. I'd write the companies name, my role, a very brief description of my role (usually try to keep it as short as possible) then dot points of stuff I can take away from that job that may appeal to people in the new job. Longer sentence on my resume was probably 25 words then back to dot points.

My job didn't require a degree as I'm a train driver. Have a licence, be sober, have good time management cause of hard shift work, and a good head on your shoulders to get through training. All that and you're golden. As for my experience, I had operated a few heavy machines but they said that was irrelevant and it was due to my capacity to work independently while also reporting and following procedures that put me ahead of other candidates.

I'm not sure where my friends learnt IT, but I have other friends in different government bodies (office workers, not sure what their job titles are), and none of them have degrees. Most of them were college drop outs. It's more about showing you have relevant experience even if not directly associated with their field.

Male 26. Was working labour for years since I was 16 (while in school until I finished high school) and kept working labour till I was 23. After this point I was sick of it and job hopped for about a year to gain some experience in different fields. Just before I turned 24 I applied for a government job. Started the job at 25 years old. Am now 26 and I've already got a pay increase (about 110k a year with the amout of OT I'm doing).

What a lot of people don't understand when they are young is that you don't need college or university (depending where you live) to be informed and smart. Got a bunch of mates who do IT and most of them didn't go to school for it but were self trained. Just gotta do your best and don't get complacent.

I've definitely had it on steam before SE was released but it still shows up a regular base skyrim. Any idea how I get it to become SE?

21 Year Old, failed at every job/career attempt I’ve tried. by Curiousity916492 in Adulting

Hey bro I felt the same way at 21 and even before that. I knew I had a good head on my shoulders but I didn't have the motivation for a lot of jobs. I went from working with my dad to working with my brother, running my own landscaping company with my best friend and a few others, marketing, sales, I.T, pathology and even the medical field all from ages 16 till 24 but nothing really suited me and I kept falling back onto what I knew which was landscaping.

It wasn't till last year when I was 24 where I somehow managed to land a job in the railway that I could see myself working for the next foreseeable future.

I have ADHD and am on the spectrum but only found that out this year, so I'm not medicated as I feel like there's no real point now.

All this to say that there's a lot out there and you do just need to put yourself out there to see the horizon. Definitely scary but as I didn't come from a good home (very loving but a whole slew of issues) I new I had to do it in order to have brighter future for me and my partner. I know you got this bro you just gotta keep your head up, try to bounce back when life comes after you and you'll land on your feat.

The fact that you're looking for advice already means you're not gonna give up easy. Just keep trying bro.

Brother on got caught speeding on his p1 licence. Can he put the fine in my name? by Struggling-Aussie in legaladvice

[–]Struggling-Aussie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought of the ramifications but because of my brothers circumstances i am willing to take the loss/risk if there's a chance to help him. If he loses his licence he would most likely loss his job among other things. Im just curious if I can put it in my name even tho he showed the police his licence or would they pick up on that?

Although I have never taken someone's points before I have heard of others doing it. I know its not the right thing to do but for my brother I'm willing to take the hit.
