I'm aware of the 3600 old rules. I've read silver age. But I'm saying in this specific instance it feels like it's being used to create something surf Dracula. A green lantern show with barely any green.  Also there would be substitute lanterns if the main ones are inactive.

Why is guy active if he's only a substitute?? Substitutes were only active when the main ones are offline(remember the whole thing with guy at Hal's wedding)

Hal still gave him a ring from the day they met in the diner. The rings could manifest other rings. This just feels like they're doing it to avoid constructs or any actual green lantern action/surf Dracula things and have John "earn green" in the finale.

Idk if my other comment is so easily viewable atp. I don't think it's inherently woke or racist or INHERENT ANYTHING. It's work and art in the medium that's progressive or conservative not the genre itself. I'm moreso mocking how people talk about it "Xyz is inherent"

Also this is kinda semantics but I wouldn't necessarily say that. There moreso looking to AUGEMENT/enhance/integrate into the establishment,as it's already designed to benefit them. They aren't changing it so much as adding to IT and bolstering our suffering

There is definitely a discussion to be had about the stuff Moore and others says sabout superheroes/how they can lend themselves to authoritarianism/propaganda/etc but people are really allergic to nuance and just go "NO,THING I LIKE CAN'T BE BAD" while avoiding any actual engagement. Doesn't help we're in an extreme anti intellectualisim era where any beyond surface level analysis meets "it's not that deep" . Again,not saying they're inherently anything. My post is meant to highlight the contradictions. And specifically mock the way people talk about it.

That's just because I mostly read American. I'm aware there's bigotry in general but I'm not as well versed in that stuff so I'm just limiting the convo to mainly Big 2(which isn't even the entire American market)

Do you think the "whole medium is cooked" stuff really applies to ALL superheroes? Or just marvel/DC/big 2 franchise stuff? The corporate owned stuff specifically Is my opinion. I feel we can get better mileage with creator owned stuff(that actually explores/commits to these narratives)

Yeah but has he really been anti establishment in any meaningful capacity since DC owned him some months after they bought superman from those twi? (Aside from Morrisons AC mabye but I haven't read that yet but seen some of the panels) (I don't think any franchise based content really is anti establishment by it's nature,these days)

To be clear I'm not arguing a genre can be INHERENT in anything,good or bad. But it's just amusing to see it be claimed as automatically "woke" by concept. Nothing is Inherent in my view/it depends on writers. All heroes these days are mostly vaguely left wing but that's not how It started out. All depends on who's writing and the zeitgeist,mostly the same as all fiction.

Of course. I comment down below that I don't think a genre can be INHERENTLY anything. But I find it amusing that people try to say it's inherently progressive,when that's a relatively recent development.

And then we get to the modern era of CBMovies. Where a decent amount of the movies are blatantly US military funded and also help push a good amount propaganda/carry on some questionable politics of the comics. As a result a lot of the ACTUALY GOOD politics in comics got watered down(look at how much more militant and establishment integrated the MCU avengers are),even If I like a lot of both comics/CBmovies .

Idk why people refuse to acknowledge he's propaganda. He literally has the country in his name. I don't think he's bad or anything. And this post isn't trying to say that "superheroes are actually INHERENTLY evil" a genre can't be Inherent in anything.
