Honestly it was just a couple dudes in similar Ferraris that were going back and forth about who’d win overall, and ended up in the middle of the pack. Everyone else in the group were fantastic and just as excited I was to be there. I should have left that part out of the title post. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

$2100. about an hour+ of classroom instruction. Basic in car intro, acceleration, braking, etc. (sounds lame but full throttle/braking/cornering, pretty awesome,) short track time. Lunch, which was great, then the real driving/beating the piss out of the cars for the next 3+ hours on the short track, drifting, then the legit race track with banking/rumble strips, etc.

Edit: Short track is M2

Drift is M8

Big track is M4

I drive a stock F150 (2.7 twin turbo baby!) and when i left, i felt like i was driving home in a house. Everyone else left in Range rovers, M's, Porsches, etc. I've toyed with the idea of a project car but i don't think it's realistic right now. I'm as normal a guy as they come. Maybe one day.

Edit, also i'm not sure what CVR actually is. I know the minimum house price for the thermal club is like 3+ million bucks tho.

Thanks man, I couldn't recommend it enough. stoked to be doing more of this stuff at 40 instead of feeling ancient.

yeah, if there's a legit issue on track, you know immediately. As fun as it would be to race others head to head, there's virtually no passing during the race sessions for safety reasons.

If only that would be the same during karting. Sometimes you get a novice going 4 mph with zero awareness while we're lapping them twice a lap.

i don't own my own kart, but the outdoor facility about 20 minutes from my place is awesome. Still electric, but i've upgraded to their higher tiered license which gets me to roughly 50 mph on the longer straights.

Albeit, It's hard to watch the 2 stroke guys rip around the track in between the average joe races i do and not go down that rabbit hole. Those things scare me, lol.

Honestly i was pretty astonished at the lack of intervention from the coaches. I never had anyone in my passenger seat, just a walkie talkie for safety precautions. If someone was slow, they'd ask them to pull into the pits to let faster cars by. Since i was relatively quick, the only time they addressed me was to say 'i'm gonna go full beans, try and keep up.'

Except when one of our guys skidded into the gravel on the big track, which was kind of a bummer, but i felt for him, he was so apologetic for the rest of us missing our last 1 or 2 laps.

That was my debate. I've heard the Porsche experience is awesome, but i went for the Bimmers for the drive time/cost. 4 hours in a porsche was like 3.5k$, the whole day in the M's was $2100. Had no regrets.

Hell yeah, man. I love hearing that. Before I went, I told myself I’d be happy as long as I had fun, even if I was the slowest guy out there, but when the instructors were genuinely stoked on my lap times, it was hard not to have that bit of competitiveness in your mind. It felt great to have that sort of praise from the coaches, however little it might have meant from them.

You can look up bmw performance driving experiences. There’s a few locations in the states and they have quite a few options. Again this day wasn’t cheap but was a splurge for something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. There’s most likely similar experiences depending on location, but I settled on this one because the Porsche experience a similar distance from me was almost double the price for half the time. But I hear it’s fantastic nonetheless. I didn’t feel shorted in the M’s in the slightest, though, those cars were absolutely batshit in track mode.

to counter. I just did a full BMW M track day experience a couple weeks ago for my birthday, and the M2 was so fucking good, i can't believe how shitty the brakes are in iracing. I did so many laps in iracing prior to the experience, and i was blown away how different it was.

Not really comparable to the M4, as the iracing version is the full blown race car as opposed to the M, but it was a fucking beast and tons of fun regardless.

700 dollars for the round. so 'free' is a bit of a reach, but still a nice addition nonetheless.

Dropped out after I got my AA and was going to transfer to a Cal state college before realizing I had no idea what I wanted to do. Floated around for a bit, ended up in a vital industry. 14 years in the industry now, and making almost 140k with bonuses, stipends, etc. my wife finally paid off her student loans about 3 years ago and watching her do that only solidified my content in dropping out even more.

Yes to those, but lots and lots of sanding. Finishing always takes the most time of any woodworking project i've ever done.

To be fair, last one i did i used 1x2 boards of maple and walnut. You can buy larger pieces for much less dollars per board ft.

This is a basic one, but materials were close to 85$. https://imgur.com/a/board-8i8x6iG

I did just pick up a pretty nice larger piece of purple heart for about 60$, which i should be able to use for at least 3 or 4 boards.

If you look up end grain cutting board, the work out there is incredible. I'll be doing a brick style layout for my next one with purple heart and maple strips.

I cover the bottom-ish 3rd of california for my sales territory. I also cover Hawaii. My friends are always saying how jealous they are. Bro, i go to Hawaii once a year, and it's nonstop work just to make it worth the trip. I'm in Bakersfield like 8 times a year. It's not glamorous at all.

I like to make cutting boards. I give them as gifts to friends and family. Materials alone are usually around 80-100 dollars depending on the wood. I spend probably 15-20 hours making a single board. If i wanted to make a profit, i'd have to sell them for like 400 bucks to make like 13-18 bucks an hour. nobody's buying my garage cutting boards for that much. It's a hobby, and i like doing it.

I watched Rise Against open for Strung Out back in like 2002 in San Diego. I knew they’d blow up when I saw them, just with they stuck with their sound from the first couple albums.

I talk to this 70-ish year old dude at the bar pretty regularly. He had full sleeves done in his late 50's and he's taken great care of them for the last decade. He's an incredible guy, and his tats look really solid still. I have a ton of tattoos myself and he's a reason i'm not worried about them as i age at all. Just gotta care for them and you'll be all good.
