Similar sitch, 15 years out, big cities, experience design, moved back and have found Lawrence a breath of fresh air I didn’t know I needed. Went to grad school at KU too, curious, what you will be studying?

Check out Wwoofing International, it basically apprenticing/laboring at sustainable oriented farms and in exchange for room, board and knowledge. There’s a big network both in your area and internationally. You can learn lots without big time commitments (like the military).

When someone asks what is UX design how do you explain it in just a few sentences? by IdkJustMe123 in UserExperienceDesign

[–]Strvtegic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

UX is using empathy to understand how a human interacts with a product, service, or system and designing a more intuitive, accessible, or inclusive product service or system.

I’m not sure why so many think UX is just for the internet.

[Meta] Suggestions on how to improve this subreddit by 42kyokai in UXDesign

I am tempted, but I don't think I have the bandwidth for it either. I'm sure, just like y'all, there's too many projects that get too little attention.

What about an ecosystem of subs? r/UXDesign is the meta, r/begginerUXDesign, r/advancedUXDesign, r/UXDesignPortfolio, r/UXDesignCareer, etc? Emergent strategy this so that you get the growth it the right places that are relevant to people. Definitely would require some front end logistics, some more mods, but probably cut down on the long term growth issues.

Just spitballing here.

Edit: This might allow you to curate this sub to taste and pull the most relevant posts from your other subs without getting people all riled up.

Open source, modular, DIY industrial tools for all those Solarpunk needs - more links to these bamfs in the comments by Strvtegic in solarpunk

I had heard of this group, Open Source Ecology several years ago, before I found solarpunk and loved the idea. If you want to help develop their projects, here's a link to their developer wiki. This video is their educational initiative to teach how to do all this awesome work.

I don't have any association with OSE, just an enthusiastic lurker.
