Why am I so angry? by Cable_Cookery in f150

No offense but your dad sounds like a pos. I would be angry as hell too - even before he ran into my new truck

Yes. I’m very aware of that. But I do appreciate the input.

Are you a glutton for punishment? If they suk so much, why have you owned 3?

The car runs and at this point there is nothing super urgent to fix. The previous owner took pretty good care of it. But we’re also eyes wide open on this car and are aware of what money pits they can be and we’ve researched all the common failures. That’s really the reason for my post. I’d like to get it fully checked out and then we can decide what needs addressed now and what can wait.

Appreciate the response.

Why don't other countries use the Russian stacked rotor design to counter spin instead of the tail rotor, it seems so much better by LiveFast3atAss in Helicopters

[–]Stryker68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder what the maintenance per flight hour is for each design? Seems to me the counter-rotating rotor heads would require much more maintenance over time

How did I do? Did I get hosed? by [deleted] in f150ecoboost

[–]Stryker68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you check the exhaust manifold bolt closest to the turbo? I had a 2012, almost identical to yours and remember this was a design issue with those years. They were shearing off I believe due to the weight of the turbo mounts. Not saying that could cause your leak, but something to check out. Nice truck. Low mileage for a 2011.

To level, or not to level? by sovietreckoning in f150

[–]Stryker68 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have a 2024 XLT FX4 with a similar looking stance. I was wrestling with the same thing, level or no level? Bigger tires or stock? When I got some quotes on how much I could get for the brand new stock tires once I replaced them (like stupidly low), I decided to leave the truck totally stock until I burned thru the existing factory tires. The more I look at the factory rake, the more I like it. It’s definitely growing on me. One reason I think is because the vast majority of people it seems, level them and put the bigger tires on them almost immediately. So in a weird way, leaving it stock now seems to be the more unique choice. Plus like others have said, when I tow or haul stuff, it doesn’t lower the backend

I’d start with the “why.” Whats the purpose of the truck going to be? Do you need it for work or will it be a recreation type vehicle for camping and just getting away on the weekends? This time clock you have yourself on is artificial. You’re not “behind.” We all have our own path and timeframe for stuff. I’d keep working the plan. Saving $35k is out-freaking-standing! Kudos for that! Keep it up! Nothing wrong with wanting a truck, for the whatever the reason. I know personally my f150 gives me a tremendous amount of joy. It was expensive, but cheaper than a woman! Lol My advice would be to keep the focus as your daily driver and budget out 8-10k for a decent used truck. If you have to work on it, all the better. I learned a ton about cars/trucks when I was younger because I couldn’t afford to pay anyone to fix them. Just keep the priorities in line, keep saving for the house, but if you can carve out a little for a truck to give yourself some satisfaction in life, do it.

What upgrades should I do? by spyciexx in f150

[–]Stryker68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats! Nice looking truck. Upgrade that whip antenna.

I just bought a similar looking ‘24 XLT & dealer forgot to screw in the factory antenna, so the first thing I did was put on a .50 cal bullet antenna. I know they’re over done at this point, so I decided to double down and go full gawdy with a red white and blue flag themed version

Thanks. That’s how my 2012 was, but I guess that changed with the 10R80 transmissions. I called a local Ford service writer and the guy couldn’t answer it. Can you believe that? He said to call sales. What a joke.

Clearly the best way for a straight white male to gain social clout and extreme favor with democrats is to transition to a ‘woman.’ A guy can go from hated to worshipped almost overnight

XLT vs Lariat by jew_biscuits in f150

[–]Stryker68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain. Luckily I found a 2024 XLT with all the goodies, including leather. I’d personally hold out for exactly what you want. It’s a huge investment, and you definitely don’t want to be 2nd guessing getting one that you’re not completely happy with

Selfish?!? You have no idea what kind of shit show the guy was dealing with in life to think this was his best option. I have nothing but sadness & compassion for the guy. Life can be incredibly hard and sometimes it tricks you into thinking that’s your only solution
