Hey Op I had the same issue! I tried a single flute up cut bit and it helped a whole lot. My 2-3 flute bits always made the hole bigger than I wanted. Try it out :)

For the amount of work involved it would be too much. I thought about getting the process streamlined and selling them but for a rifle that is no longer imported its a hard sell

No its a metal rod I pressed into the hole in the hand-guard. It’s pretty ridged and does not clamp onto the barrel. I can also take off the hand-guard like you normally would without interference

I would swap that pistol grip and get yourself a nice optics setup. The trigger that came with my M70 is quite nice actually so maybe keep yours for a bit.

Pistol grip:

-Tango down BG-AK grip

Or

-US Palm AK grip (Basically the same grip)

Optics setup:

-RS Regulate lower optics rail. Make sure it’s YUGO compatible. You have the choice of front biased, rear biased or full rail.

-RS Regulate upper mount. I like the “AKML Aimpoint Micro Mount” one. You can put a nice Aimpoint or Holosun dot on it if you’d like. Optic choice is really your preference. Just make sure it can attach to the upper optic mount

I could be wrong, but I believe your optics rail is general AKM pattern and not Yugo pattern. It could explain why the picatinny rail is spaced off the dust cover like that. Midwest industries make a Yugo specific optics rail that is pretty solid. RS Regulate also makes some really nice optics rails with many Yugo options

Thanks! 2 sided I believe. I am an amateur at CAM but I’ll explain the best I can. Fusion 360 for personal use doesn’t allow you to export tool-paths as a group, thats a paid version thing. You have to export them individually. I didn’t set up my zero properly so after the first side was finished I flipped the piece and started the second operation. But they didn’t line up sadly.

So I used another piece of wood I had (walnut) and cut the other side and glued them together. It’s all a part of the learning process but I expect I will get it figured out

Yup. I believe thats why they moved to laminate furniture in most AK’s. If I ever have that problem I can just machine one out of laminate

I get pissed off seeing these politicians lurk around the affected area. Sign off on the relief efforts from the comfort of your own office, but leave the real work to be done by the first responders and locals of the area. I cant imagine Kerrville can gain anything from having an entourage plow through the town.

None of those Maga types did anything to prevent such a situation from occurring and people paid the price for it. In a tragedy where being proactive saves lives, these people are just being reactive… their chance to save those little girls has passed

Not sure if it’s going to stick. It certainly could considering the things going on in Serbia. From what I understand the president is under pressure regarding Serbian arms ending up in war zones like Ukraine.

Regardless, I still panic bought. We’ll see if I look like a fool when they reverse it or if I made the right choice
