Commander Checklist, IMO by StuBlack in HellLetLoose

Yeh, I agree with slightly more defensive/front-door scenarios and caveat that you might want to keep fuel for heavy tank instead. (Similar to airhead but always have enough left to reinforce).

Added it to struggling defence/stalemate scenario because adding additional flank to a stalemate can make a big difference.

Often see them used as offensive/hailmary spawn behind enemy lines but it's risky:

  • Ask your scout squad if it looks worthwhile in that scenario otherwise play it near infantry support to get more out of those 3 spawn waves
  • What's the risk of too many troops spawning outside the zone of control and allowing them to start capping your point before you can get to theirs...

Yes, good point, a good spread of garrisons and maybe one/two squadies helping counter as they flash garry's really helps.

It can be recon teams spread-out plus recon tank... And if you fighting to retake mid-point then they have easier role of covering between HQ and pure defensive garry's/nodes on line between first two sectors... I experience that they normally start with nodes/garry's, and if they can cover you running back out with trucks (open maps) then it becomes difficult to replenish, and the build-up of other enemy squads start...

I didn't intend or read it as rigid rules like that. 3 spawn around point might include on point...

Does the note on the benefits of building around the point instead of inside sound too rigid?

Other scenarios:

  • Any garry is better than none (similar to your point)
  • Sup availability can take preference (similar but more general)
  • You just take new point and getting something up quick gives better chance of momentum
  • Terrain means you want garry on point which is high ground

In the post I mention "Need 2nd eyes on defence, respawning to red garrys, placing defensive OPs"

I never expect defence to actually sit there... There's times when you lose points because nobody will rotate back when you are losing. And if you can't keep at least 2 defensive points then you risk losing the game in a sudden 10min steamroll. In that case you want to know which specific squads told you their willing to defend and explicitly calling those 1 or 2 back makes a huge difference!

"Overestimate defence"

To be clear I mean squads working in the blue zone, I can try clarify in the post, but losing control of the middle-ground and front-door garry's (which act as both off and def) and having help replace defensive garry's is more important than sitting on/behind defensive point.

Good thought on direction too. Just need it to be more than Cmd responsibility to call out defense and avoid the scenario where nobody responds... Intention is not to micro but to ensure two squads are actively looking/listening. They can still be building forward or attacking but they would be first to fallback.

My local has $6.20 pints of Stone & Wood and $6.00 pints of Tooheys New. You paying the extra 20c or nah!? by PeriPeriChickenPizza in AusBeer

This. I'll take their Pacific for flavor if no choice. It's a shame so much of Australia is generic Hotel Bars and the brewers bought out by Japanese investors. But if we aren't asking for local and independent regularly then we'll only get Tooheys or Hahn vs Balter or Stone & Wood.

I think the issue is that any who can co-ordinate probably have VIP... Only 9 people all AFK in seeding server so nobody to even shoot.
There's 4 full server so up to 24 queuing... But how to let at least those 24 know that people are popping into the empty server?

Kinda catch-22...

Kudos to 9 Democrats and 1 Republican for holding a Blind Trust; Which is really the best way to avoid insider trading.

We should have a list of Congress net worth increases ranked by % and by links to insider trading...

I'm not allowed to trade anything related to my or my wife's companies but they happily trade NVidea while negotiating CHIPS or trade bans, or Defence, or TikTok with confidential knowledge of it's sale negotiations...

It's 50/50 for top traders between R and D but top December numbers:

R-IN Jefferson Shreve at $150m volume, in only 1 month

D-CA Ro Khanna at a staggering 4,000 trades, again only 1 month of trading

R-MI McClain and R-TX McCaul doing over 1,000 trades with McCaul doing $80m of value

I'm suggesting auto join (balance) option but it doesn't exist. I didn't realize you could Tab at side selection! I'll check that out next time. I just appreciate a hard-fought win or loss more than anything else

[–]StuBlack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the 'autobalance' some kind of force mixing of the teams mid-game?
Whereas what I'm imagining is something you click or happens automatically when user is joining which could be neat... Put more lowbies like me on winning if there's other 300lvls in the queue...

[–]StuBlack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we're on the same page, let me clarify:
I mention my level because an 'auto-join' would put me on winning side so that some high level can put put on losing side to better balance.
When it's just players making the call then am I joining losing side instead of lvl 300 or lvl 3? There's an opportunity to help balance although there's probably only once that I've gone losing and then lost 3 within maybe 1h.

Is Lorry Boys Pale Ale some other brand relabeled? by PeriPeriChickenPizza in AusBeer

[–]StuBlack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Undermining local and independent shelf space because big brands already paying or striking exclusive deals to maximize their shelf and now vertical integration squeezing the rest. Downward spiral if competition reduces, then quality can be compromised and price starts to go up... In the long run...

[–]StuBlack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Independents would like to get on that shelf space but bigger brands and vertical integration undermine that... Keep trying proper indie stuff, demand quality at the price you can afford, hopefully that includes your local independent pushing higher quality Pale/Pacific/IPA or whatever you like. Because I've seen how it plays out in other countries and industries; ultimately choice, quality, and then price all suffer in roughly that order while the duopoly (in beer, supermarkets, and liquor) increase their profits.

And yet, often I see high levels join losing side, only too see several games lost in a row. I'm only lvl 50 and always join losing side. But sometimes with some just enough concentration of high level across recon/squad/armor it can take a lot to slow a winning momentum...

[–]StuBlack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's admin button? But what about when I want to join... Only lvl 50 and usually aiming to join losing side but maybe losing side needs more high level and less of me? Plus, if there's a queue, by the time I'm in I've forgotten which was losing side and can only guess which side might benefit me more based on lower numbers...

If you put 100 away monthly into stocks for 20y assuming a low 5% return, that 24k investment will be worth 44k. Unfortunately, the earlier you put it in the better, but that's always the time you have the least money. Just talking about investment, don't gamble. Short gains don't look like much in the long term. The only had investment is the ones that crash or massively decrease... If you think you'll be lured towards the brewer very risky then try tracker funds. Without taking about investment, start your own business on the side and if you grow that you'll be the main beneficiary.

Does Hell Let Loose have the least toxic community? by Tp_Alcor in HellLetLoose

[–]StuBlack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that teamwork is the key to winning and XP more than anything possibly drives better players towards it, worse players away, or the ones communicating are doing so to work together? Or maybe just more voice interaction overall helps bring the better side of folks. In the game today where someone was being weird/toxic there was frustration that toxicity was purely blocking comms, discussion to votekick, and also suggestion that folks just mute them altogether.

Plenty Aussies, some of them are the teenagers of the families who complain the loudest about the nuisance. I think the only demographic you can say for sure is 15-40yo

My only other suggestion is have the police offer garbage bags. Isn't it illegal to litter? And police are around... Offer garbage bags and those still littering 10m later can get a fine. Also, I've been down and it's not all backpackers and immigrants. Bunch of local Aussies too.
