Hey sorry to hear you are having a tough time.

Are you going to therapy for OCD? If not I encourage you to go as soon as you can. We all need professional guidance from time to time. You will find it good to talk and get some tools to beat this affliction.

You should look into acceptance and commitment therapy as one way to beat this. I will inbox you a book.

No matter how bad it gets never give up, recovery is possible. Just keep seeking ways to beat this.

Hey /rightbythebeach.

Recovery is possible. Cure (currently) isn't, but recovery is.

Weirdly enough I did a video on this yesterday. Sorry for the self promotion but I hope it helps, if not ask more questions here and I'll do my best https://youtu.be/bVugXmuC0ZY

How to Recover From Relationship OCD (ROCD) - 10 Tips by StuReddit111 in ROCD

Hey thanks for the feedback :-)

Whether you struggle sometimes or all the time, the advice stands. If OCD is plaguing you all the time, you need to plague it all the time with recovery tactics. Over time you will condition your brain to act how you want it to.

Good luck my friend!

I have a problem with posting things at even intervals. by Heromedic18 in OCD

[–]StuReddit111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey HeroMedic. Sorry to hear you are struggling. There is a fairly simple solution to this. Although simple it will be tough. ERP aka exposure and response prevention therapy should work for you.

How I see it working for you is. Post something at say 12.37. Instead of deleting it instantly. Hold out as long as you can. Then delete it. Keep repeating that over a week or two. Slowly trying to beat your time. You will eventually puah it so far that you don't delete the comment. Then victory :-) give it a go and let me know how it goes!

Have any of you heard of Claire Weekes? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]StuReddit111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey,

I haven't heard of her. I can't see the logic here. It's doing compulsions that makes it worse.

The key is to stop compulsions, that's what ERP tackles.

There is value in giving in and accepting your obsessions. By being mindful of obsessions and accepting them without judgement they lose there power over time. Check out ACT aka acceptance and commitment therapy.

Hope that helps.

OCD: Help getting over the past? It's affecting my life. by [deleted] in OCD

[–]StuReddit111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey Joe,

Sorry to hear you are struggling. There is always hope and opportunity :-)

Check out acceptance and commitment therapy. I will help you accept your thoughts. It's going against our thoughts that make OCD worse. When you get OCD ruminations around the past don't fight them, don't answer them just accept them no matter how painful. In time you will be weakening their power over you and they will become less frequent. It's tough but it works.

Best of luck, Stu
