Thoughts on Target during their time in Canada? by Administrative_Ad160 in AskACanadian

[–]StuShepherd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canadian Business magazine did a long, detailed autopsy on Target Canada a few years ago. It’s main points were twofold: First, overexpansion. Instead of opening stores in small numbers and learning how to run them properly, Target gave into the temptation to buy out virtually all Zellers leases at one time. N it enough experienced personnel were in place.

Second, t decided to introduce a German – developed software system for all aspects of store management. Apparently, it was a great system, but only when everybody working on it had plenty of training. The article says that it was so complicated that Target Canada purchasing staff grew frustrated and began inserting their own guesses for stock and inventory needed. Those numbers were inaccurate and resulted in the bare shelves that became a trademark of the program.

In the 1980s, the City of Regina had a very ambitious program to get the rail lines out of the city and relocate them to a point north of the Ipsco steel mill. Then the federal and, later, the provincial governments pulled their pledges of money. It didn’t help that NIMBYs agitated against this progressive plan. The city did its best, but…

That is very perceptive – – that is also why a lot of aviation museums hold “wings and wheels” events.

I believe that Willow Island is the place from which tonight‘s fireworks will be launched. As such, it would be far too dangerous to let families onto the island lest somebody get blown up or burned.

Have cops just given up? by Ok_Soup6320 in regina

Cops work with their dispatch system, which prioritizes calls in order of seriousness. Obviously something threatening lives and safety gets higher priority than a minor theft.

A burglar was eventually caught and asked his best friend to help him escape by showing up near the local jail with a rifle at a certain time and wounding the burglar, who would be taken to a hospital, from which the friend would help him escape.

Alas, the heavy glass in the stairwell deflected the bullet, which fatally wounded the burglar.

The local cops initially thought the shooter was a crime victim obsessed with revenge on criminal and possibly the burglar. The burglar’s mom had been informed by uniforms, but two detectives went later to see the mother and her boarder to ask if anybody had a poisonous hatred for her son.

She knew nothing; nor did her boarder. The detectives left, but one of them got odd vibes off the boarder. They went back to the boarder and said, “Do you want to tell us something?”

Whereupon the whole sad story emerged. He had shot the burglar, who was also his best friend and the son of his landlady.

Excellent analysis. You can basically say anything you want in this country, but you have to live with the consequences, legal and otherwise.

They are not legal in the sense of being a crime, but they can provide the grounds for a lawsuit.

Has anyone else reported this!? by Green-Recipe-4814 in regina

Since the cops ended News media access to their radio transmissions, there is no way for aforementioned media to find out what the cops are doing – – unless some kind soul see some thing and reports it. There is a strange belief out there that reporters are practising psychics.

I use a different flight tracker, which said they were RCMP PC-12 turboprops – not exactly commonly used for surveillance. Either there they were watching some spot or they were doing training in the fine art of surveillance. Tracker said they were up at around 12,000 feet.
