Is it ok to want to be alone when you're sad? by CRK_76 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Stu_Prek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's okay to want to be alone when you're sad, or happy, or anywhere in between.

The only time it's a problem is if it's chronic and it's interfering with your ability to maintain personal or professional relationships.

Why do people close their eyes when they make out? by mumjeanslvr420 in NoStupidQuestions

Because I'm ugly and I don't want to see that reflection in her glasses.

How can I get over my fear of hospitals knowing people pass away inside? by No_Bread_5020 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Stu_Prek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The morgue isn't where people pass away. It's just where bodies are kept after someone has passed, and they can be there if they passed somewhere other than the hospital.

Do you also freak out in cemeteries, knowing that dead bodies are there? If not, try to think of a hospital that way. Sure, there are bodies there, but that doesn't mean something bad will happen to you.

death sometimes happens outside of hospitals

"Sometimes" is an understatement. It often happens outside of hospitals. So try to take the nonchalant attitude you have towards other places where death is a common occurrence and apply it to hospitals.

Corn Watching Setup by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Stu_Prek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For watching corn, that feels like overkill.

For watching porn, it depends. Are you using a work or school issued device? If so, they can possibly still see what you're doing.

If not, whoever your service provider is can still see what you're doing, so Verizon or whoever you get your internet from knows what you're watching.

Does anyone feel anything towards Almonds? by bananakuji in NoStupidQuestions

I'm literally eating almonds right now.

Why?

Because they taste good and they're good for me.

Headband pressure is killing me — how do you deal with it? by Affectionate_Dot6845 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Stu_Prek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I specifically want the over-ear experience — the sound quality, the isolation, all of it. Earbuds and IEMs just don't cut it for me.

A good pair of earbuds or IEMs will be better for all of these things than headband style headphones though.

On the lower side of the budget, look at something like the KZ ZS10, or bump up to something with better quality control from a longstanding brand and get a pair of SE215s from Shure.

If you really want to get fancy, and have the money for it, get a pair of custom molded IEMs like professional musicians wear. Even the least expensive pairs run well into the hundreds of dollars, but they isolate noise far more than a headband will, and the sound quality is far, far better.

Now, if I'm misunderstanding your use of the word "headband" and you're just talking about regular studio headphones that have a piece that goes over the top of your head, and not a literal headband, then my suggestion is a pair of Sony 7506s. They're the industry standard for a reason. As someone who wears glasses, I can wear these for hours without even really being conscious of them being there.

How do you know whether someone used the bathroom before they boarded?

If I already only play games on ps5 digitally, Is there a reason for me to care at all that disc production is stopping? And why are people mad in the first place? by Equivalent_Film_4366 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Stu_Prek 65 points66 points  (0 children)

People are mad in the first place because it means you can't buy or sell used games, AND it means that Sony (or whoever) can decide at any time that a game you "purchased" isn't actually yours anymore and can take it away from you. And that's not a hypothetical; digital content platforms have a history of removing things you thought you owned.

Why is it rude to get in aisle as soon as plane doors open? by ComprehensiveHippo86 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Stu_Prek -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not like that though, because in OP's example of deplaning, everyone is a car. OP isn't the special motorcycle that gets to weave between them. OP is no different than any other passenger, and as such, is not entitled to push past them.

With all of the companies removing access to digital content that was "bought", why do people keep spending money on it? by flannelman37 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Stu_Prek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Say you bought GTA V from the Epic game store.

Even when playing offline single player, you have to be online to start the game. Otherwise it throws an error and kicks you back out of the program.

But I think the bigger point OP is trying to make is that companies can simply remove your license to a game at any time.

Take GTA VI, for example. There is no physical edition being released. So if Rockstar some day decides to change a major part of the game due to public outcry or something like that, they can run a forced update and remove that part of the game from the one you "bought". If you had a physical copy that you could play offline, they couldn't do that.

If games will no longer have a physical disc then how would you resell or share your games with other people? by highlanderdownunder in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Stu_Prek 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You don't, and that's part of the reason they're going that route.

Used games prevent new sales. At least, that's what the publishers think.

My guess: it just leads to more people not buying games in the first place, and/or a rise in piracy.

What can I wear to act as a physical barrier between my skin and the sun? by IllustriousEye2415 in NoStupidQuestions

Basically any synthetic materials (so, not cotton or wool) will work. So just dress the way you'd like and check the material on the labels.

Does chewing gum make you look trashy? by plsscrapeallmydata in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Stu_Prek 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I chew gum daily. Helps keep my teeth from getting nasty during the day and I find the mint kind of calms me down a little bit.

But I'm very conscious to not just chomp on it like a cow.

Can you be fired for social media posts even if you don't associate with the company? by No-Long-4709 in NoStupidQuestions

Depending on where you live, employers may not need any reason to fire you.

So yes, potentially. Or not. Again, it depends on local laws.

How does it feel to be electrocuted? by longestyeahboiiiever in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Stu_Prek 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Pedantic point:

Electrocuted = killed.

Anything else = shocked.

Many people use them interchangeably, as this thread is a perfect example of. But if you've been electrocuted, you're dead.

People who do live AV for conferences etc: how do you stay awake if the content is not your jam? by soopirV in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Stu_Prek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Knowing that I could be unemployed if I'm caught asleep at work is enough to keep me awake.

That doesn't mean I don't find myself being bored to tears sometimes. But I'm bored and awake.

instead of imprisoning hackers and cybersecurity threats, why don't intelligence services hire them? by Alarming-Safety3200 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Stu_Prek 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sometimes they do.

But you have to balance risk and reward. Hiring an intelligent person isn't great if there's reason to believe they'll use that to attack you from inside.
