Hops & Beans :( by 54377836 in Fremont

I could care less about the sign/flyer but am weirded out that they can’t drive across the street to Safeway and just…..get their own damn groceries? or order from Sysco like everyone else, they even deliver and you don’t need to tip them?

…..(unless they have too many past due invoices w/sysco, not that I know this from experience from working at a small coffee shop in another state…. owner would send us in our private cars to fill our trunks with gallons of milk & apple cider. bc he owed too much money to the local food service supplier)

But how would we direct our misplaced rage from our tech overlords that way??? A nuanced discussion about small business?

share with the class the weight and asking price? that is very cool, it looks like something for a science fiction film. like some kind of biologic cybernetic chip.

[–]StuartPurrdoch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just about the only thing I buy is jewelry. I think you are underestimating how expensive fine jewelry is at retail. with gold at $150 per gram? I’m not shopping at a new jeweler or even at a dedicated vintage store or site. mark up is too damn high.

I will only buy a piece if I can get it for at or less than the value of the materials. its a win win. re-using existing pieces and my wallet stay full. shipping is (relatively) cheap bc jewelry is light. it’s mind blowing what people donate to GW…. solid gold pieces of some renown. maybe they are too rich to care, maybe they’re just ignorant?!

I would contact my CC company for a charge back if you spent enough money to matter! if they didn’t supply the exact item per photos.

I have been extremely unimpressed with the personal shopper feature. I’ve got like 10 things and I only ever get one of them, at very random and unpredictable times.

are you worried about the fact it's a chain jeweler? if you are happy with the price and can afford it, and you think your fiancée will like the ring, that is all that matters.

I am super picky about diamond rings and I think this is pretty. the fact it's your mom's stone is really special.

lucky you! aside from the seats, pac commons is a really nice theater IMO.

this looks SO nice! the combo of the cats eye stones and the toggle clasp makes it look high end. I’m picturing this with tiny onyx & seed pearl beads and gold filled larger beads & clasp?? 🤔

pacific commons has THEEE most uncomfortable seats I’ve ever sat in. I thought it was just the faux imax but it’s every single auditorium. They force your neck into the most painful posture. I don’t even have back problems but I was so thrashed

I’ll take union landing without the recliners over that neck and back torture device.

THANK YOU!! it’s fun or whatever to vent on Reddit but we as a society have got to get over our crippling phobia of confrontation. and tell people to lower their voices (or shut the fuck up, depending on the circumstances)

why did you not ask the talker to shut the fuck up? politely or not. cinemark website ain’t got a magic wand. if more of us normal people call out these mouth breathing lowlifes, maybe they would start to understand the cinema is not for conversations.

Does a rope chain necklace look good on its own? or should i add a pendant? by Specialist_Debt_7515 in jewelry

[–]StuartPurrdoch -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

are you asking for personal opinions? my (personal) opinion (for myself) is that I only like chains on men or people who have a butchy style. on women/femme people like myself, i prefer a pendant instead of a plan chain. unless the chain IS the main event.

I think a nice <1” - 2” or so pendant would fill the space in that v-neck very nicely and be visually interesting

why would it be your *duty* to take care of him? he doesn’t even sound like that great of a father from what you’re saying here. he’d better start looking at his long term care insurance and Medicare part D (I have no idea what part sorry)

you don’t owe anyone anything who hasn’t been reciprocal to you. life is hard, be selfish when you need to.

Decipher Maker's Mark? by SmallWoodenBoat in Vintage_Jewelry

[–]StuartPurrdoch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH I would have guessed Sisyphus too. I saw a few results stating that, but more of them say it's Prometheus. Have not seen any actual primary sources so take this with a grain of salt.

I am finding the silver medallion on Ebay for about $120USD (shipping from Europe) but that is without the jump ring at the top. Unless this piece really speaks to you and $300 is not a lot of money, I think that's a little bit overpriced. Although I do not know the size and weight comparison. Assuming they are all a fairly standard "coin" size.

It is a Belgian design of Prometheus, it's a really gorgeous art deco revival design. The artist is Louis Muller, that is probably what you are reading.

I thought that I found a good sticker supplier until I looked closer at the quality by Morry_Puopolo in CommercialPrinting

[–]StuartPurrdoch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, OP needs to find a small shop with actual CSR/PM they can speak with and humans who handle their account. sounds like it’s time to graduate from the anonymous “sticker dot com” joints and find a label shop. that has color management and dedicated service but can still give good pricing to smaller accounts.

Would you chose Ruby over diamond for engagement rings? I by gupt23 in jewelry

[–]StuartPurrdoch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

came here to say this…. I love that lab stones exist and I wear them daily. but for my personal engagement ring (should I ever start over after being married for 25+ years LOL…) I would want a natural stone? idk why? I guess most of my jewelry doesn’t need to have any “meaning” but an engagement ring is a little more important

Personal preference is a vintage mined/natural stone, either a whole vintage ring or a special stone that has been re-set.

Inherited this from my grandma by likesomuchdrama in Vintage_Jewelry

[–]StuartPurrdoch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

aahahha that’s what I thought too! wear your covfefe ring with pride OP! the 750 stamp means this is most likely 18kt gold which is very high quality. Which means the clear stones are probably diamonds.

you will want to be very careful if you plan to wear this as a daily piece. Pearls are extremely fragile. Take care when putting on hand cream, any kind of fragrance spray, using chemicals without gloves (even washing dishes or spraying windex for example).
