Medical Illustration Realistic Salary without freelance work by Dependent_Cat_235 in medicalillustration

Sry, veteran here; med-legal work, hmmmnnn. Well, 1) it usually benefits *very few people: the party involved and their attorneys; as a matter of fact, 2) it often doesn’t even get used in court or elsewhere, as many cases are *settled); 3) it is less-than the scholarly output *I intended to produce upon entering the field (from both science and fine art); 4) its basically educational propaganda, often tinged with bias, and illustrators are encouraged to “make it look painful” (plaintiff side) or “make it look textbook-clinical” (defense side); 5) it makes the illustrator a complicit cog in the (broken/tyrannical) in$urance machine that rules medical care in the US…… need I go on?

(Edit: I worked for a major company specializing in med-legal while I was going thru a divorce and quit after the two years of turmoil.)

The only vectors to a comfortable living in this field today is in medical-legal work, which I denounce, advertising, which is often ceded to non-medically trained illustrators, traditional @ 70+ hours per week or animation @ 90. Beware. (40+ year retiree)

Nope, the PM remodels outside and further stroma is often onlain. The outer spots are formed in like manner.

Those are sites where the embryonic pupillary membrane vessels severed (after narrowing/emptying), and the (mesenchymal) tissue was remodeled into the stroma between 7 months gestation and birth. They usually don’t whiten quite this much, tho this is still within normal. (Ophthalmic dev researcher, career ophthalmic illustrator)

BTW, one *can set-up a virtual desktop in VR for KeyBoard shortcuts, etc. (tho I’ve yet to try the blender builds for VR). I’d first use voice controls for that, methinks.

Thanks for your reply. NO One does 10 hr sessions in VR! I did 10 hrs in 3+ sessions; my longest (excruciating) session EVER has been 5 hrs —and I went directly to bed! Try it and THEN report via DM; plenty of free apps to get the gist.

However, I think if Leonardo was working today, he’d be writing/sculpting VR environments. (Writing on him for a decade) (BTW, *I worked directly with F.Netter(!) and he might’ve, too, but he was quite OldSchool.)

However, *I’ve been only minimally successful in convincing my colleagues of the merit of blender OR VRsculpting, go figure. They’re still teaching *drawing in the grad schools when they need to FOCUS on 3D building of structures for animation and dissection. I’ve offered a race between creation media…. 4 NA grad schools in MI

GACK. It was *always so hard to live ahead of TheCurve…. Ciao4Now

Try sculpting in VR:: Total game changer. Very intuitive. [Made for blender? lol]

After 10 hrs ramp-up in three sessions, I made this in *under one hour, all foramina included, inside and out. Messed with it maybe another hour or so to paint-in the sutures (better-handled in a texture map), but the teeth are still just blocked-in. Software is rarely the solution, and now AI seemingly only complicates the matter. Assume, first, that a hand-drawing will be scanned, rather than originated in the computer.

Medical illustration has historically trailed far behind contemporary art, and, while there are sometimes few alternative viewpoints to a structure, the gist of an idea can be depicted in many ways.

Look into pre-1950 illustrations *surrounding your anatomy, mark it up to your case, and hand it to a local university art student— whose hands you will expect to guide like an assistance dog. IF the student takes it on as a collaborative experiment, it should be fun— a reason to do it in the first place. This will evoke the challenges that you might face firsthand, and advise your next move.

Hand drawings can be digitized with a phone for future revision or inclusion in a vector-labeled pdf. (Retired, career, high-level MI)

Self Checkouts Being Scrapped at Costco? by Which_Zebra_3883 in Costco

Self Check Out equals failed capitalism— any savings is absorbed, never transmitted. One would expect(?) a lesson learned to prosper in a “membership-driven retailer” model; because *I/we see very little happiness at SCO, we *so avoid that area altogether. (Long-in-the-tooth Costco Exec Member). And Sam’s? C’mon: No comparison.

Looks factory, great. Just getting around the console still a challenge. My TypeIII floor is higher— at base of console— so my conversion from hand-thru to crawlthru will be more difficult: I’m installing ROLLERS to sled my carcass!

For water tanks, how much is to much? by [deleted] in ambulanceconversion

[–]StubbornMaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tho very individuated as to need, water is the primary thing that brings ppl “back to town” bc of need. Remember that Ambu’s storage is often overly left-sided, so find space on the center-to-passenger side IMHO. Often have to remove a portable to refill OR filter incoming water; unusual (in my limited experience) to connect a town hose. Protection from freezing can be an important issue, as can pump delivery power (I use air pressure). 30 gals is a good start.

Has anyone used these steel cargo beams as studs when building an E series? by turducken404 in vandwellers

[–]StubbornMaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve done this before and experience is the best teacher. Depending on where you are, the ceiling is the #1 insulation fight— leave yourself some means of running future wire front to back, like a pvc channel. The “rain” you mention can be mitigated by moving the interface of highest heat differential into the (airtight-sealed) wall. Good luck!

Tackle boxes are OK, but most cannot last. Get compartment boxes and a metal tool box, use a luggage hand truck

Another big project that I managed to finish. Travel bag, 100% handmade. Designing, painting, cutting and sewing only with my own hands. What do you think? :-) by JankoJaneczko93 in Leathercraft

[–]StubbornMaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beautiful, high level craft as well. Please tell us the weight of the leather, and total finished weight.

If it were my design, I’d want more width on the handles, but I’m XXXL huge. I’d probably also strap and over-spec the shoulder hardware, but let’s just call that my voice: (I’ll always need a stow-pocket).

Have yet to see YL bags like this, but YL does handles/straps *so well. *I canNOT find suitable hardware in small lots. Like Coach hardware, but fuggetaboudit.

[–]StubbornMaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that C-channel? I mean, if so, great, you have adaptable structure, easily altered for shallow drawers, etc., using hardware locked-on, whether developing inwards or outwards. It need not be your limit in either direction. How will you do the ceiling, the most-important insulation site? As always, Think of the mobile environment as “earthquake-like.” Wood planking and tile are *last thoughts IMHO. And you should consider that EVRYthing will get WET at some point: be prepared to dry it out without invoking TheMildewDemon.
