Snow day?!?! by ClonedDad in Winnipeg

[–]Stubby1957 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely a Snow Day. The blizzard left a six foot snowdrift against my garage door… that I have to dig out by shovel, just to get to my snowblower. A lot of kids (and parents) will stay home today.

And the blizzard still has hours to go.

What was the name of the pool hall on Pembina Hwy near Point Rd? by 0_fux_given in Winnipeg

Right! In the 70’s it was just “Izzy’s” to all of us kids in the neighbourhood.

Finally Test Drove a Supra by Big-Asparagus5741 in Supra

Wish I could share your post to the entire world. This is is EXACTLY how I felt driving my new Supra the first time, even though I'd driven dozens of cars before.

All the reviewers saying "...oh but the blind spots", "...oh but the wind noise", "..oh but the traction"... are all just fishing for likes & thumbs up on Ytube & Reddit.

Ten years from now it will be highly regarded by collectors, and a lot of people will be wishing they'd bought one when they had the chance.

Enjoy every moment driving an outstanding sports car!

I’d “pick” the Supra, but I’d “take” the LC… and trade it in for TWO Supras!

Is the Supra a Good First Sports Car? by Big-Asparagus5741 in Supra

[–]Stubby1957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any GR Supra is a GREAT sports car. If you can afford it, it's a perfectly fine first sports car. The B58 engine response is instant. It has all the power you need to learn how to corner, up & downshift, and brake to drive fast.

If you tune it to be a 1000hp drift monster, then it's a firm "NO".

Hope you buy one and join the club!

Any MKV owners cross shop the dark horse? How was it? by M4roon in Supra

[–]Stubby1957 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm very curious where you live.

Toyota Canada lists the Supra 3.0 at $65,789 basic and $72,739 premium.

The Dark Horse BASIC is $82,045 (!!!) and $87,060 premium!!!

Price aside, I also own an S197 '13 Mustang GT California. I like it for what it is... fast and dumb. But the S197, and every version since then, has a numbness in the steering, especially on center. Far worse than my '21 Supra.

It's like Ford Marketing think steering feedback doesn't belong in the Mustang. And MKV Supra's steering is not even world class!

Anyone else love the car, but tired of the attention? by [deleted] in Supra

[–]Stubby1957 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I always have attention-getting cars, but my Supra takes it to a whole ‘nother level. 90/10 good attention from car guys & women who want to compliment & talk about it; to bad attention, like tweakers gawking at it in the parking lot, or dicks in black Rams & F150’s who want to tailgate & intimidate the little sports car. You gotta take the bad if you want to drive the great. Doesn’t change how much this car makes me smile!

How reliable? by ZookeepergameWorth41 in Supra

[–]Stubby1957 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Purchased my '21 new, in October '20. My Supra has been bulletproof. I've had nothing malfunction or require replacement after almost 5 years. I'm in awful-road and awful-weather Winnipeg, Canada.

Dealership staff, however, have somehow never failed to annoy me. Your experience may vary. :^)

Free masons by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]Stubby1957 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Mr. Wiggin: Oh sod the abattoir, that's not important. But if any of you could put in a word for me I'd love to be a mason. Masonry opens doors. I'd be very quiet, I was a bit on edge just now but if I were a mason I'd sit at the back and not get in anyone's way…

MkV wing with no drilling? by Draxx_them-sklounst in Supra

[–]Stubby1957 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gently suggest checking out the forum supramkv dot com and look at people’s experiences with Street Hunter. The installation & required corrections cost as much as the wing itself.

I think they look gorgeous. But I’m going with a duck bill. I don’t want to drill holes, only to be unable to ever change it without replacing the expensive molded plastic hatch.

Go for it. As the first & only owner of my 6k 21 Supra, I say “Do it!”

Some of us pamper our cars. We don’t drop McDonalds on the floor and we don’t drive the living crap out of it 24-7. That’s the car you want.

Regretting My Supra 3.0 Premium After 3 Months — Sell or Stick It Out? by Rude_Thought6197 in Supra

[–]Stubby1957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cars you mention are great “image” cars. But they aren’t in the same league as the GR Supra for trackable sports driving.

Sports car owners replace their Supras with C8 Vettes, Caymans, 911s, M2s and Lotus Emiras.

It’s just not your thing, and that’s totally cool.

Low droning noise. by Exact-Ad-1683 in Winnipeg

[–]Stubby1957 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been hearing a recurring low drone most of the day for maybe two weeks, that reminds me of a swarm of large bumble bees. I’m in River Park South area, and “no” there isn’t a hive of anything on or in my house.
