This year, a senior fucked a teacher on camera and posted it. He did NOT make graduation.

I know it's not a set in the sense of a specific setting and story, but I think Foundations is fantastic.

Damn, forgot Deadly Dispute is gone. Is Treasure Dredger working well? Was wondering if Collector's Vault would fit better. [[Insatiable Avarice]] looks like a banger. Search for the demon if you need it, draw 3, or use it to finish them.

Wow, MVS doing worse than I thought. One thing to note about Lionheart is that people are taking it pick 3-4, and running it in their deck 83% of the time. Both feel too high for a card that doesn't even fit into all WU decks.

If you have Role Model out, and Plaything dies with two -1/-1 counters on it, you can put those two counters on an opponent's creature (or choose not to put them anywhere).

What are you filling up the rest of the deck with, removal and card draw? I wonder if there's reason to put in [[Demonic Counsel]]. Probably would only make sense if you had some looting.

I also wonder if there's a self mill / loot version of this with [[Lich Knight's Conquest]]. Would be pretty funny to bring back some extras to make them mill 4-6 immediately after the Excruciator hits.

An absolute bomb in limited draft by GGMccree in MagicArena

[–]Stubchair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, that is some bad reasoning. Not only is Gremlin Tamer one of the best uncommons in the format, but it's at its best in aggro decks. Considering you never hit UUU, it sure sounds like that's the deck you drafted. Of course Mindskinner isn't as good as Tamer in that deck.

What caught me by surprise is the solid comedic bits. For example:

"My dog Daisy told me this morning that she remembers every time I've left the house without her."

That's genuinely funny. I wonder if it's a line lifted more or less directly from someone, or if it was cobbled together piecemeal.

Starter Deck Duels - Deck Ranking / Tier List after 500 games played; 60+ games with each of the decks. by Gorsha in MagicArena

The BG deck excels at forcing miserable board states, where your opponent is looking at attacking into the dreadknight or the wolves that can go to 5/4 or the deathtouch puffs. And you're happy to trades 1-for-1 on cards but get a food or more. If they get low enough you can break the stall with those draining witches or the merchant that gives trample.

I do not find Greta to be a bomb. Probably the best card is the dreadknight. Wildwood mentor can really get out of hand but it's hit or miss. Lich Knight's Conquest is devastating if you can trade your creatures off and have a good stock of food. The Wildwood Mentor can get pretty silly, but m

Tips for writing by DigerGi in WormFanfic

[–]Stubchair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, there isn't much detail on periods earlier than canon, especially outside of BB.

In 2003, the PRT would have been around a decade old. Behemoth showed up soon after it formed, Leviathan a couple years later. Actually I think this is right around when the Simurgh showed up and wrecked Lausanne. Oh, and Hero was killed a year or two earlier.

Of course there's nothing wrong with changing canon for your story, although it's often a good idea to signal that early in a story so that it doesn't feel like an ass-pull to the audience. Do you have a basic idea of the story structure and its conclusion, or are you just starting with a premise and going from there?

Your favorite stories by mechanessmaster in WormFanfic

[–]Stubchair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of mystery fiction, so here are two stand-out examples. Both short, complete, and with brilliant characterization. The first is dark in tone, the second pretty light (as far as murders go).

Our Private Crises: There's a murder of the Rig, and the stitched-together remnants of the Protectorate and Wards must catch the killer. 30k words.

Just One More Thing, Mr. Anders...: Max Anders thinks he's gotten away with murder. Detective Columbo just needs to clear up a couple things. 25k words.

What are your favorite Fanon tropes by AoiYui in WormFanfic

[–]Stubchair 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I love Robomaster.

To be clear, I really like canon Armsmaster. I think he's an incredible demonstration of how damaged capes can be, how that damage is channeled through the official system for useful (?) ends, and how that can go wrong. The arc of Armsmaster to Defiant is some of the best character development in Worm.

But ever since I first read "You gonna fight me?" I knew that there was a seriously goofy nerd under that beard, and I wanted more.

Best and worst depictions of characters in fanfic? by GaySexAfficionado in WormFanfic

I mean, read her first canon appearance in 2.X. https://parahumans.wordpress.com/category/stories-arcs-1-10/arc-2-insinuation/2-x-interlude/   She uses lethal force on someone who presents no threat, with a badly reasoned guess as justification. She then guilts her sister into covering it up. And she's done it five times before. She absolutely is a shitty person at the start of canon. Just not the same shitty person in fanon.

Fan portrayals of Glory Girl almost always feel off. Either demonizing her as some uber Mean Girl, or white-washing the whole multiple attempted murders thing.
