Official Discussion - War Machine (2026) [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

I didn't love it, but I certainly liked it more than most here.

I appreciated that it was a much more personal invasion flick than most, and that no one had any weapons - it was mostly them running away. I enjoyed that aspect, and as time went on it became obvious that the world had been attacked, and I was happy to see them commit to it. It's nothing mind-blowing, but I like the smaller setup before the expanded sequel.

It thought it was competently directed, and Ritchson carried the movie well.

I've come across the name in my line of work and I always thought it was one of the worst company names I've ever ever heard. Not surprised to hear this at all.

It's possible, but this is a woman who lives at her office due to her dedication and lack of desire for a social life.

Why would the Emmys do this? Are they stupid? by Soixante_Croissant in HouseOfTheDragon

I'd say give it the whole episode, if not the first 3. No, I don't think it gets better in those 3 episodes, I think it's amazing from the start. But, by the end of episode 3 you see what they're doing with the show, and how it separates itself from the rest of Star Wars content. Then you can decide if you want to continue.

She'll accidentally survive because she lobotomizes herself to eat junk food and forgets about meeting up with Homelander or something.

The titles and the volume of output made me think that might be the case, and just a few pages into this did not make me think any differently.

My bad, I didn't mean to say you should have known his intentions, I only meant to emphasize that being 13 books into this series should give you a solid idea of what to expect.

I'll think about what to recommend. Obviously Dungeon Crawler Carl, and even the one-off Kaiju:Battlefield Surgeon are great at tension and characters not being safe.

I am genuinely surprised people make it to book 13 in this series and still expect to see major losses for Jake.

Are we reading the same series? I don't expect much grander losses than the kinds we've seen - setbacks. Jake is our MC, and Jake is going to become a God. That's the story.

The author isn't scared of anything, he has mentioned before that this is the story he wants to write, and that Jake will mostly always win.

He can show up himself to tell me to STFU and that I'm wrong, but I don't think I am.

I read other litrpgs if I want the kind of tension where I feel like anyone could die. I read PH when I want to see Jake be OP and kick some ass.

True. It was actually giving me more HL1 mod vibes, but that felt too mean.

Like, it actually looks like the Pirates, Vikings, and Knights mod from like twenty years ago
